Matt Groening’s mom has died; she was 94.
I found it really touching, as I read the article, to realize that Matt Groening had named numerous characters in The Simpsons after the people in his family:
-his real parents were named Margaret and Homer.
-his mom’s maiden name was Wiggum (same as the Springfield police chief).
-Matt had several siblings, two sisters of whom were named Maggie and Lisa.
