The internet is not a truck, it's a series of tubes.

Just saw this on the daily show. The chairman of some board, explaining why he made some decision, tells us about the internet.

There is a transcript here
Quote:
“I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?”
So, what the hell is going on? How can this guy be making laws?

And there is already a Wikipedia article about it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_of_tubes

Well, internet connections are essentially tubes. The higher the bandwidth, the larger the tube and the more it can contain at any given time.

It’s not the chairman of some board; it’s our very own Senator Ted Stevens, who has been going senile for some time now.

Better news! He’s just 3 heartbeats away from the presidency. After Cheney and Speaker Hastert, this is the man we would have running the country.
