And it’s wonderful so far (I’m about half-way through it). It’s written as though Kaga was telling the history, with a slightly formal, yet over-the-top tone. It’s loaded with photos, it provides a listing of EVERY battle up through Ritalin Ron Seigal, gives bios of all 7 Iron Chefs (there were two Iron Chef Japanese and one Iron Chef French before the foursome we all know. The first Iron Chef French is bitter).
It provides all sorts of weird factoids (“Doc” Hattori challenged the Iron Chefs before becoming a commentator?! There were “Tag team” Iron Chef episodes?!) and best of all, it opens with a reminder of Big Battle New York wherein Booby (“Smarm is my Life”) Flay gets electrocuted.
What, Iron Chef fans, could be better?
I’ll tell you what: It has RECIPIES!! From “Thinly Smoked Sea Breem with smoked Organs” to “Lobster Custard with Beluga Caviar” this book is great so far!
One warning: it contains spoilers for the final three episodes that won’t be broadcast in the USA 'till June.
Allez Cuisine!
