The “Justice for J6” Rally in DC

I figured we might as well have a thread for it eh. In case, ya know, there’s anything to talk about.

I am not as concerned about public displays such as this (although they do keep the populist flames burning in the minds of supporters and the disaffected) as I am about more clandestine discussions with corporate interests and financial institutions akin to the “Secret Meeting” of 1933 and the Industrielleneingabe. (Yes, I have been reading about the rise of European fascism and the Weimar Republic era of German History, and not just for more context for the background of Babylon Berlin…why do you ask?)

As much as there are a lot of voters upset at the Biden Administration for various…reasons…a lot of corporate interests are even more terrified of what Biden et al may do in a second term, and particularly those already aligned with hyper-conservative PACs like the Kochs even if they don’t particularly like or respect Trump. The Munich “Beer Hall” Putsch failed to put Hitler in power but made him realize the need to gain the support of powerful behind-the-scene interests rather than just relying on populist support, and his subsequent rise to power was as legal as it was undemocratic, because Weimar Germany was run by corporate interests with a vested interest in maintaining control at all costs even if it meant installing a worm like Adolf Hitler as their “puppet”, a short-sighted strategy that worked out well for exactly no one.

So, at the risk of sounding like looney-right-wing fantasists who claim Soros crisis actors are behind everything, I can’t help but be curious who or what is behind this rally? Certainly all of these folks didn’t just wake up one day and say, “Hey, I’m gonna take a few days off work around Sept. 18, and take a trip to DC. Honey, load up the cooler and get out the Trump flag!”

Any ideas?

Read the first link in the OP. Matt Braynard is a former Trump campaign operative who has raked in over a million dollars in donations promoting this rally.

I have to say, I really dig the Gold-Plated Big Head Trump In Patriotic Board Shorts statue. I’m not sure what the star wand is for but this is my second favorite so-awful-it’s-fantastic life-ish sized figurine, after the Bronz Fonz of course:

Perhaps not so - can you name one German company that went bankrupt as a result? By contrast can you make a list of Weimar corporations that flourish today?

Is justification of J6 in a similar best interest of US corporations?

C-span has live coverage. An opening prayer guy referenced the “J6 patriots”.

It seems these guys are suddenly, strangely, concerned about the conditions in America’s prisons.
I like how a guy can stand in our nation’s capital, before a microphone, and complain about a lack of 1st amendment rights. These people have got shit for brains. Much like the Lindell symposium, I don’t think I can take watching this any more. The link is above, if anyone else wants to see this.

Thank you for your service! No way I intend to watch anything other than clips of the exciting parts after the fact, unless the exciting parts start and then keep happening.

So far I’ve learned why you should never read a speech off of your phone.

How many people are in attendance?

I’ve seen more people in the lobby of my apartment complex, lol

C-span is only really showing the speaker close up. But judging by the speaker who tried to start a USA!-USA! chant, I’d guess a dozen or so.

The schnook currently speaking is doing a Whatabout regarding an environmental group (the Sunshine Group?) who “blockaded the White House” a couple of months ago, supposedly. Those arrested that day were released the same day - “no FBI visits, no lost jobs”. He just dropped the “two-tiered system of justice” line.

He just compared the J6ers to MLK and Gandhi. Sweet and Sour Jesus.

More press than protesters.

One of the dozen or so in attendance had this to say:
"Lori Smith, 58, a paralegal from the Atlanta area, was among the group attending the rally. She said she opposed the storming of the Capitol but believes some of the people charged are political prisoners and that the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt should be tried like Derek Chauvin, who was convicted of murdering George Floyd in police custody.
Smith said she had expected a better turnout and has a low opinion of members of both parties in Congress.
"If a nuclear bomb dropped on that Capitol Building,” she said, gesturing toward the dome behind her, “I would celebrate.”
Patriots, they call themselves.

Low energy. SAD!

Hava Arifi, 50, with crutches and a large knapsack, stood in front of the fence surrounding the Capitol Saturday morning, chatting with a U.S. Capitol Police officer. Arifi, who said she has been sleeping at the Staten Island Ferry terminal since being evicted from her apartment last week, was also at the Capitol on Jan. 6. She said she did not participate in the attack, but stood on nearby Constitution Avenue directing the crowd toward the building.

She said she hoped to meet other protesters Saturday who shared her frustrations with government, including pandemic restrictions. “I don’t believe in covid-19,” she said. “Government doesn’t have a right into your personal affairs.”

I watched a very short part of the C-Span coverage so you don’t have to. You’re welcome. My impression is that attendance is very low and the thing consists mostly of self-serving speeches by various political wannabes of the Trumpist type proclaiming that “they” – the ever-amorphous but incorrigibly evil “they” – are treating the arrested protestors much more harshly than “they” ever treat Democrats, who are always violently protesting and getting away with it. (They had a screen set up where they could show this, like AOC allegedly in the act of insurrecting and getting away with it.) To show how fair-minded they were, they criticized the Qanon shaman – the one with the horns, the fur headpiece, and the painted face – for his unconventional attire, but I ask you, is this a reason to lock someone up for months?

It’s never clear who the evil “they” refers to, but apparently the media is in on it. The media is totally in the pocket of “them”. One Republican Congressional hopeful, looking to get elected, made a speech to proclaim that due process was a right bestowed by God, not by man, and that no man could take it away (although “they” somehow managed it). It was clear that with God on his side, his American flag lapel pin, and his crediting God with writing the Constitution, that he was a True Patriot™ who deserved to be elected to Congress. Needless to say, he parted with an appeal to his friend God to bless America.

It was a grade school picnic without the sandwiches and Capri Sun. But lots of sniveling, whining, and kool-aid.
