The Khadaji Memorial Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

BAd news from that dick move

Might even affect the official on the play.

The comments are interesting. Someone even (in jest, of course) blames Obama.

This will be debated regardless of the league decision.

More on Tomlin,posted on NFL.com

I’ll buy a huge fine for Tomlin, and I’d even say a game or two suspension for Tomlin would be completely fair; however, I can’t see a loss of a draft pick coming out of this as being justified. Of course, the random penalty generator the NFL seems to use does have a large variance, so who knows what will actually happen.

Yeah. Did the Saints lose a draft pick with their head-hunting scheme? I know it was pretty severe with the coaching suspensions, but I don’t recall the team getting docked a draft pick.

It looks like the Saints lost a pair of second round draft picks. I suppose it’s possible the NFL might try to take a later round pick from the Steelers, but I’d still call that unfair in this case.

Thanks for setting that straight. I looked in a couple of places.

Tomlin fined 100K

Draft penalties still pending.

New thread for Tomlin discussion

It was wrong and the fine is more than justified. Losing a draft pick, especially a year when they will be near the front is BS. It had absolutely no effect on the outcome. They lost the game.

But it could have had a profound effect on the game. I think that’s the point: to deter such behavior because you don’t know at the time what kind of effect it will have. Note: I’m not claiming it justifies the loss of a draft pick.

Surprisingly, Bell has passed all his concussion tests so far. That’s a good sign. Of course that could still change and I would support holding him out for a week if there’s any doubt but the way he was laid out was worrying. It’s good to hear some positive news there.

What about the offensive line though? As it stands now it looks like DeCastro, Beachum, and Adams could all be out and obviously Velasco is out. I don’t like the idea of the third team protecting Ben and possibly with only two RBs dressed on top of that.

Tough spot considering this game really is must-win if there’s to be any glimmer of hope for a playoff spot.

Looks like Woodley will be back too. I’m hoping they move him to the right side and let Worilds keep tearing it up on the left.

Gah!!! My market switched to the game just in time to show me that last play. So damn close!!!

I think Shula knocked Brown out of bounds.

Does all that happened today put Miami in the lead for the last wildcard? I can’t get all of NFL.com to load for me.

Baltimore still has the tiebreaker because of the head to head victory.

Thanks. I couldn’t access the records. Still showing 14:38 to go in the game, too.

I think we might be at the end of the road now. Inches. Mere inches. Maybe even one inch. And that, in a nutshell, encapsulates the Steelers’ season. They can’t get it done when it matters. All they had to do was keep Miami out of the endzone. That’s it. All they had to do was keep from giving up a 48-yard run. That’s it. All they had to do was push the guy out of bounds with one of the three shots they had at him. That’s it.

And all Brown had to do was run down the sideline. He wasn’t in any danger of being tackled.

Now, even if the Steelers run the table, unlikely but possible, they need so much help I don’t know if I can even imagine the scenario.

It’s just like the Steelers to give their fans hope and then tear it from them like this. Oh, well, they can’t win every year.

Well, that’s that. The Steelers are finally done, and the only things left are to see how they finish the season. Here is one fan hoping they lose the last three games to put them higher on draft board, as well as making Tomlin’s return less likely.

Also, the latest info seems to point to a lost Steeler draft pick. No idea of which round, or if they take a compensatory pick from them, but the NFL is most likely going to go overboard on the Tomlin punishment.

However, I think this will actually help, and not hurt the Steelers. Tomlin-regime drafts have been terrible, so the NFL may be actually saving the Steelers money by giving them fewer chances of blowing cash up front on a draft pick who will most likely be cut before pre-season is over.

Sad ending to.a Steeler season, but not completely unexpected. I guess Pouncey is much more valuable to the Steelers than his detractors thought.

Airman, I salute you for being the best And most loyal Steeler fan. I know.

Since you follow the team as closely as anyone, I’ll ask you. What do you think the off-season moves will be?

Can Haley even be considered for a return as OC?
Is Tomlin secure in his spot as HC, or should he be on the chopping block?

What do the Steelers do in the draft?

My opinion is that Haley is done. Unless Ben says to bring him back, they have to get rid of him or risk losing the last 5 years of a franchise QB’s career. IMO, if they bring Haley back against Ben’s wishes, he will not sign an extension to finish his career in Pittsburgh, and instead will look to get traded or go FA when the opportunity is there. He has seen what has happened to Manning, and how moving to the Broncos has given him new life. Haters aside, I still think Ben is one of the top 5 QB’s in the league right now, and if he was protected like Manning, can you imagine the numbers he’d put up?

Tomlin should be done. I know the Rooney’s will probably keep him, but they shouldn’t. He will now have his second non-playoff season in a row, and most likely a losing record this year. The team is headed in the wrong direction, and I don’t see any light at the end of the Tomlin tunnel. He is a terrible talent evaluator and worse than that, he has not developed any players that he has drafted. At all. His draft record is abysmal, and he has gutted a once strong team by weak draft and FA signings.

The other item that should get him bounced is the embarrassing thing he did in Baltimore. I think the Rooney’s should use that to their advantage to jettison the guy. They have invested high round draft picks into the O-line and have nothing to show for it. Yes, Pouncey has been good, but DeCastro hasn’t developed nearly as quickly as he should have, and Adams is a joke.

As for the draft, the Steelers need to get some real talent into the secondary. They are bleeding everywhere, but there secondary is so pathetic I just don’t see how they can ignore it any longer. Bringing Gay back is proof to how bad it is, as they bring back a player who was addition by subtraction when he left, and when he couldn’t make the cut in Arizona, the Steelers took him off the trash heap where he would have stayed. I don’t think any team would have picked up Gay unless injuries forced a team to do so.

I am not sold on Bell yet, but to be fair to him, he had had a shitty O line to run behind. I imagine his line at MSU was much kinder to him, and getting him holes to run through. I like the way he runs, not upright like Mendenhall (who has been beaten out by a rookie in Arizona), but with more of a forward lean that most great backs run with. He can also catch a football, so he may be a very good back assuming he doesn’t have issues with concussions.

Your thoughts?
