The Khadaji Memorial Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

If you don’t like the way they draft why do you want them to tank for a higher pick? :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though. Losing becomes a habit. I want to see them play out hard and evaluate some guys for the future. Lots of good signs for the future: Worilds is playing at an all-pro level, something switched on for Heyward, the offensive line showed they can play well with a quick passing game, Bell is a keeper.

Thanks.

Haley is histry. If he’s not the Rooneys are spitting in the faces of their fans. He’s been an unmitigated disaster. Ben wouldn’t dare ask to bring him back. Tomlin will be back, the Steelers simply do not change head coaches and there’s been no word of dissatisfaction.

He might be a part of the decision-making process, but he doesn’t have the final word. Kevin Colbert has more pull in that direction. I disagree that Tomlin is as bad as you make him out to be, but that’s just my opinion.

DeCastro missed his entire rookie year. This year he is essentially starting from scratch. Adams has had a bad time and is probably a bust, though. Still, quietly, while you weren’t looking, the offensive line, fragile, damaged, missing personnel every week, has turned into a decent unit. Ben didn’t get sacked for 3 weeks and only took a few today because he held the ball too long. Next year Pouncey will be back, and if they’re smart they’ll bring back Velasco, who deserves a deal for what he did in Pouncey’s absence. He might be out of position, but he’s good enough to adapt. DeCastro will have a full season, Beachum will be back… the O-line, for a change, looks like it has a good future.

Yes times about a hundred. First thing: find a replacement for Ike Taylor. Great cver corner my ass. He gets torched every single week, often repeatedly. Next, Ryan Clark. All he wants to do is lay wood, tackling is foreign to him. Then they need to think about Polamalu’s replacement. He’s not done but he’s getting there.

Bell will be a good back, maybe even great, if they can establish the run. HaleyBall never gave him that chance. They abandoned the run today just when it was getting yardage, which seems to be a cardinal tenet of HaleyBall: always stop doing it if it works. If Haley were trying to intentionally sabotage the team he couldn’t call plays any worse than he has. You watch, though, someone will hire him as a head coach based on his “offensive genius”, which is so blatant a lie I can’t even type it without wanting to puke.

There’s a ton of talent there. They just need to stop the splash plays and they’ll have something. Let Taylor, Sanders, Foster, Clark, maybe Adams, and Levi Brown (God knows why they signed him) go and get what they can out of the draft. Which is now apparently going to be a pick short because of the sideline bullshit and will be based on how the Ravens finish, even though THEY WON THE FUCKING GAME. Goodell is an ass. Man up and take it now and get it the fuck over with, Commissioner Overkill.

DeCastro hasn’t developed as he should have? He dominated Suh and Ngata when manned up on them and was easily their best lineman this year. He was one of the best guards in the league. His dive at Pouncey was obviously a lowlight but DeCastro delivered big time the rest of the year. He and Adams are easily the best run blockers on the team.

A healthy Pouncey will improve the line greatly and Left Tackle can be fixed with what they have. Beachum pass protects well but is terrible opening holes. If he can improve the ground game or if Adams can get his protections sorted out (John Jackson had the same kind of first years as Adams and went on to start the next 9 seasons) the line will be in good shape for years to come. DeCastro isn’t developing, he’s there already.

Can’t say I’m overwhelmed with the 26th best run offense up the middle or 19th to the right tackle, per Football Outsiders.

Profootball Focus has his ‘stock’ as the biggest drop on the team in the 3rd quarter of the season.

Fuck them, watch the game film. The problems in the running game weren’t at Right Guard.

I’m going to make a genius observation and say it’s looking even more unlikely the Steelers will pull it out.

The way things are now it’s probably for the best. When they were down to three d-linemen yesterday it brought back bad memories of the game against Denver where even had they won there was no hope of winning the next game anyway.

Big Ben irked by Pittsburgh Steelers’ game plan in loss

Nothing like punching a guy in the nuts to help your team. Welcome to the Steelers, Cody Wallace

I didn’t know if I should laugh or wince. He didn’t punch him, he grabbed a fistful of the man’s taint.

That was bizarre. Like he was pinching his nether region to make him drop the ball. Thank god the guy’s dick and balls were in a cup, or Wallace may have yanked a ball out of his nutsack.

Now THAT deserves a fine if anything deserves one. That is the most personal of personal fouls!

Most NFL players don’t wear cups. No idea if Starks was or not.

Stay classy, Pittsburgh.

Stay classy, Miami.

Seriously? Where did you get this information?

I need a cite!

Honestly, I can’t see playing football without a cup or some other sort of protection down there. If they don’t wear a cup, what DO they wear?

Steroids shrunk it up enough it don’t matter.

New York Times

I grew up playing rugby, and no-one ever wore cups.

Has anyone ever heard of a Chicago Bear named Virgil Livers? I remember reading a sentence in the paper about his injury, the mere thought of it made my endorphin system Theismann up. The key word was “ruptured”. Needless to say, he has been a bit of a cup advocate.

I am amazed. I played baseball though college and always wore a cup.

However, I confess that I did not wear one until I was drilled down there in little league.

A most embarrassing situation to say the least… Laying on the field on my back with everyone both laughing and wincing in pain and sympathy.

In football, with the tackling, I’d think that you’d be constantly getting an errant knee, foot or something hitting down there.

I played seven man flag football in my days, and I was the QB, and I always wore a cup. I guess that early experience in little league made me a bit more aware of what the consequences were.

Now that scene in The Longest Yard makes complete sense!

Bodanski getting hit in the “nether region” really would have made him pass out with a pass connecting directly at ground zero. No cup? Good lord.

I love this place. I am constantly learning.

I have. He also played for the Chicago Blitz in the USFL, teammate of Vince Evans and Larry Canada. Man, I miss those days.

Sometimes errant, sometimes not so errant.

Ooooooooooowwwwwwwwww!

How on earth did you find this?
