The Khadaji Memorial Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

That was some spectacular Ratbirds fail.

Steelers win!

Hours later and all I hear is crickets from Ratbird fan, after he demanded an answer from me and didn’t like the one he was given.

Incidentally, yes, the Steelers are playing football at the same level as the Ravens. Look at the scoreboard.

Ah, no sir. Two games in a row 27-24. AJ Green is back, the truth and the holy one that is bailing out our noodle-armed QB.

True! Unfortunately for both teams, it’s not a very high level.

Redman was released today and Kion Wilson brought back. Good move I think.

Amazing how much better Todd Haley looks as an OC with strong line play and a capable RB ain’t it? They’re almost to the point of being able to call some real honest to goodness play action for a change.

Indeed they did.

I don’t know why, but I find the score very strange. The original line on the game was Pittsburgh -2.5

How could that be, I thought? The Steelers, a very bad 1-4 team, and showing very little life, are favored against the 3-3 Ravens?

Something seemed fishy.

Something seems even more fishy that the Steelers covered that original line. Fixed? I don’t know. But how could the guys in vegas nail this game?

The Steelers have a chance to go 3-4 against the Raiders this week, although they usually play poorly when they travel to the west coast. And even thought the Raiders are not very good, well, neither are the Steelers.

The AFC north is the second worst division in the NFL behind the NFC East.

So, let’s say the Steelers beat the Raiders. I took a quick look at the rest of the schedule, and I think thats as close to .500 the Steelers will climb to this year.

They play @ New England, which. I would consider an automatic loss, except the Patriots look like the worst 5-2 team in history. Still, barring major injuries, I’ll count that as a loss

Then, a home game against Buffalo, which would have been a loss if Manuel was healthy, but now they might have a chance. However, if Mario Williams plays like he is capable, the Steelers lose this game.

Next, home against Detroit, which should be another loss. 3-7

Then, against the Browns away. They should win this game, as Brandon Weedon is not a very good QB. 4-7

Then, @ Baltimore. I HATE the Ratbirds, but as much as i’d like the Steelers to sweep them, i don’t see it at Baltimore. 4-8

3 of their final 4 games are at home, miami, the Bungles, and the Brownies. Their lone away game is in GB. That’s a loss.

I think they will beat the Browns, and they may split against the dolphins and Bungles.

6-10

Not good.

However, i have to say that I am encouraged by Bell, and he already looks better than Mendenhall ever did. He has that lean-forward running style that works so well in the NFL. Not the upright, stiff style of Mendenhall, so I’m thinking if they can get an offensive lineman or 3, he could become a very good back.

And Todd Haley still needs to go. Two wins doesn’t cover the stench that he’s created on the offensive side of the ball. But it can wait until the off-season.

I will revisit this from time to time to update my predictions based on injuries, etc. but I still don’t see a very good team. Baltimore is not very good at all right now, and the Jets? No. The Steelers beat a rookie QB, so I’m not excited by the two wins, except for the fact they beat Baltimore. If they finished 2-12, but beat the Ravens twice, I’d consider it a pretty good non-playoff season.

It’s funny that we all see such different things. I think an 8-8 season is not just achievable but would be a disappointment. A few encouraging signs from last game: McLendon was actively moving his man around against the run, consequently they had to double-team Ziggy to get the gap opened in that side. It’s run defense but that’s the type of line play that leads to pressure and turnovers, first by forcing teams to pass and second by forcing the QB to pass under pressure. The D-line is actually looking better when Keisel is off the field right now. On the other side of the ball did anyone notice DeCastro getting some push? I thought he looked really solid and aggressive.

Are you seriously suggesting the game was fixed?

8 of the past 10 Steelers vs. Ravens games have been decided by 3 points. Neither team has looked great this year. The Steelers were playing at home. Picking the Steelers -2.5 seems perfectly reasonable.

So it’s been a week, and Mince is still nowhere to be found. That’s not entirely unexpected, though. Most people do slink away after talking trash and watching their team lose. Not me, though. It is my thread, after all.

Anyway, the Steelers are favored by (around) 3 today against DA RAIDUHS! Back when I was a kid, this was the rivalry to watch, the Raiders were the team Steelers fans always wanted them to beat. It wasn’t so easy back then, but you know, the Raiders aren’t good nowadays. When it comes to rivalry games anything can happen, though, and since the Raiders’ players become douchebags the moment they put on the black jerseys there’s always the possibility that they’ll cheap-shot Ben or some other Steeler out of the game like Richard Seymour did a few years back.

So this evening, when the Steelers are 3-4, they’ll be right back in it. I said before, and I maintain, that they were never as bad as their 0-4 record indicated. They still need to fire Todd Haley, though. A few wins doesn’t overcome the obvious conflict that the offense has been having with Haley for the last two years. Somehow the team is overcoming that, and I hope they keep doing it, but he has to go.

Come now, I don’t like the Ravens (Bears FTR), I was just putting a stick in your craw. You may be as good (or better) than the Ravens, but you are not good—the Steelers that is.

That one game was no indication, BTW.

Ah, your team is the one with the emo QB who is now out for half the season with a sprained vagina. Good luck with McCown. Soon you’ll be wishing that the Bears had the Steelers’ record.

Yeah!? Well…my dad can beat up your dad.

Girls … Girls … Stop fighting. You’re both fans of pretty bad football teams.

Give it a little time, you’ll be there again.

As someone who remembers the great Packers like Tony Mandarich, Don Majikowski, and Charles Martin, I have no doubt it will eventually happen to the Packers again. Which is why I’m enjoying these good times so much.

93 yard QB run on the first play of the game. That’s not a very good start.

1968 to 1991 was a damn long, cold time. Especially for one such as me, who cut his teeth on the Glory Years.

And if you think you suffered under the Majik man, be glad you didn’t have to experience Hunter, Hadl, and Whitehurst!

I can’t believe this hasn’t been mentioned (and if it was, I missed it), but just in case you all didn’t know, Levi Brown injured himself in pre-game warm-ups before his first game in a Steelers uniform. That injury was a season-ending injury that put him on the IR… The Cardinals must be giggling like little school girls over this trade. A fifth round draft pick, plus the dumping of Brown’s salary to the Steelers, who get a clown that gets injured in pre-game warmups and is on the IR for the year. It is WORSE than just tossing a 5th round pick in the toilet. The Steelers wiped their ass and flushed Browns salary down the toilet with the 5th round pick. :smack: not even ONE fargin’ play!

No. I am not saying the game was fixed. I just find that line remarkably accurate for the game. I honestly didn’t see how the Steelers would be favored in the game against the Ravens, but they were. And by 2.5. And they win by a field goal. That’s just amazing to me, that’s all. Reasonable to me would have been a pick 'em line up to the Ravens being a 3 pt. favorite. I just didn’t see how the 1-4 Steelers would give points.
