Not super new, but I’ve loved Royal Blood since they came out about a decade ago.
On the new front, Wet Leg is excellent.

I like this one quite a bit.
This one was good, Very folk. The other two were far too country for me though.
They’re not the first Zeppelin sounding band to come along and they’re pretty good.
I looked at this thread to see if anyone mentioned The Dead South. Glad you did! I love In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company. They’re innovative and traditional. New, but been around forever.
Sometimes I like psychedelic stuff, and Electric Moon is a band that does it for me.
I’ve got a couple for you, then.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard from Australia.
But my favorite is Gaye Su Akyol. She’s from Turkey, and does some outstanding psychedelic rock music:
I play upright and clawhammer in an acoustic string band. We actually do covers of those 3 songs.
Different tastes and all! ![]()
Vampire Weekend.
Recently I got into Missy Elliott and was thinking I was hip for a minute…then I realized those tracks I was listening to were almost 20 years old.
Vampire Weekend isn’t all that new, either (although I do love a lot of their stuff).
Ren (He is a dude, but he also has (had) a band called The Big Push) - a busker from Brighton, Wales. He spent 10 years virtually bed ridden with undiagnosed Lyme disease. He got some stem cell treatments that finally helped, although he’s currently in Canada getting more treatments.
Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines
Not a band. Just a talented Swedish singer-songwriter named Kristian Matsson. (I think he’s currently touring the states.)
I only recently learned of the late 60s band [Kaleidoscope](Kaleidoscope (American band) - Wikipedia. Wow were they ever talented. Recently deceased David Lindley was a member.
There was a British band with the same name during the same era. They’re also very cool.
Check out their cover of Chop Suey.
My contribution is Noah Kahan.
How do you imbed a YouTube link?
Not a new band, but someone in a prog Facebook group mention Marillon, a group I’d never heard of before. I was quite impressed.
I’ve discovered tons. Admittedly, most are solo artists rather than bands, but nevertheless:
Chvrches
Marina
Aurora
Rina Sawayama
Angèle
Babymetal
Mitski
Perfume
Twice
Tove Styrke
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
Meg & Dia
Red Velvet
Rita Ora
T-ara
Zazie
(I’m too lazy to attach YouTube videos for all these.)
Check out SG Goodman. Alt country, emphasis on alt. Mrs. A and I have been playing her latest in heavy rotation, and it’s still knocking us cold.
Right click the video, select “copy video url”, paste it back here and add a “/” to the end.
(a bit odd, and you can’t then edit your post once you’ve posted it. It’s a known issue.)
I’ve discovered hundreds of excellent bands/musicians, but my most returned to
is probably Vulfpeck :-
He goes by the stage name of The Tallest Man on Earth. I’ve heard him on the radio but can’t remember anything about him.
I’m a Baby Boomer (in my 70s). I listen to a lot of Classic Rock from the 60s & 70s. However, I also listen to some 80s music, a little 90s music, & a smattering of 21st Century music.
Around 2015 I discovered Dawes. I like only a few of their songs but I REALLY like those songs. My 2 favorites are A Little Bit of Everything & All Your Favorite Bands. They have 7 albums. I posted a 16 song Playlist on Apple Music under my real name.
I second the nomination. Two years ago I mentioned them to my college age grandson. He opened his iPhone & showed me that he was listening to them that day. I felt like The Coolest Grandpa on Earth.
Just this week I discovered the husband & wife acoustic duo Bill Nershi & Jilian Nershi.
Sorry no links.
Hadouk Trio. Two Frenchmen and a Paris-based American playing “world music.” This is all I’ve heard of them, and I’ve read that they’ve performed as a quartet and with other members. Give this a listen, the quality of musicianship is excellent. Virtuosos but not virtuosity.
Here’s a link to their website: HADOUK
