The Last Hurrah- My Father

The nursing home rang this morning to say that my father was unwell and being taken to hospital by ambulance.

A few hours later the Emergency Specialist rang to say he was gravely ill and I needed to make a call on his treatment.

The nurses have advised that it will not be long now.

Goodbye Dad. I’ll remember all your stories of growing up in the 1920’s as you pass on into the night…

Sorry to hear it,** Cicero**. Condolences to you and your family.

Condolences Cicero. I’d love to hear his 1920s stories sometime, if you feel up to sharing them here.

So sorry, Cicero. Thinking of you.

I’m so sorry Cicero. Your father, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I’m sorry for your troubles.

Sorry to hear your news.
Condolences to you and yours.

I am sorry to hear your news. Sending supporting thoughts your way.

Deepest sympathies to your family. I hope his passing is peaceful.

I’m so sorry.

So very sorry. Treasure your memories.

Thanks folks. I’m in Brisbane at midnight after flying across the country. It seems a long time ago that I got the phone call at 5 am.

I always reinforced to my daughters to make the most of their grandparents memories while they were still alive. I could have applied it to myself.

I am so sorry. All the best Cicero

My sincere condolences for you and your family.

I’m so sorry to hear this, sending you condolences. Know you, and your family, will be in my thoughts and prayers.

(When you’re feeling up to it, would you like to share with us, the kind of guy he was? I, for one, would like to know something more about him.)

I’m so sorry Cicero. When you’re ready, I’d like to hear some of your memories, too.

I’m so sorry to hear this, Cicero.

Ahhhh, sorry to hear that Cicero. Even though our parents get a ‘good innings’ (so to speak) it’s still tough when they pass.

Take care…if you need to, you know my PM.

My thoughts are with you Cicero, from the other side of our shared planet.

No matter what, it never seems like we’ve had enough time with our parents. My condolences to you and your family, Cicero.
