The last of my ice melted, too, but I’m a little bummed about it. Of course, it was in my tea…
Not even close up here in the central Colorado mountains. And it has been a fairly light snow year. Actually, it snowed a few inches today and I needed to put the car in 4x4 to get up the driveway.
Leaving for a Key West vacation in 2 weeks.
I’ve seen people posting in this same messageboardosphere talking about 100s in the Phoenix area which seems weird. Everything’s all messed up these days. Last year I took a road trip with my mom around the southwest and she left from SLC, and I had to leave from Las Vegas, and in the drive back, in mid-may, it snowed all the way from SLC almost to St. George. Which put my plans to camp in the area on pause even though just a week before, my mom and I had camped much north of there at Yuba Lake. (I had just bought an SLR camera so as soon as I got to SLC I took lots of pictures of the nondescript suburban neighborhood nestled in the hills, and then the next day I took pictures from the same place and it looked totally different in the snow.)
Ironically, tomorrow I’m leaving from Florida for the Southwest, although in deference to the snow, in Colorado I only will be going to Mesa Verde.
This is typical for us. We’re at 11,200 feet in elevation. Our biggest snow months are usually March and April. Just when you think spring is coming, SURPRISE! April brought us 61"s of snow at our house (my Wife is very diligent about measuring anything over an inch).
After 25 years, we’re used to it. You shouldn’t have any problems in Mesa Verde.
It’s sort of the opposite of hot magma, falling from the sky.

Double W00t! The water went off in our office tower the afternoon, so anyone who wanted to go home could!
Left at 3pm on what was practically the first day of summer, and went biking with the Cub.
