The Latest Deep Fried Fad

I’ve reported on deep-fried fads in a coupkle of threads in the past, observing that we had
Deep-Fried Oreos

Depp-Fried Cheesecake

Deep-Fried Butter

Deep-Fried Lard

Deep-Fried Beer

Deep-Fried Coca-Cola

Deep-Fried Kool Aid

Deep-Fried Bacon-Wrapped Cheese-Filled Hot Dogs

Where, I wondered, could you go next? Once you’re deep frying fat and deep frying sugar, you’ve gone about as elemental and basic as you can. I didn’t think they could surprise me.
But they did. This past weekend at the Topdfield Fair (where they had the world’s first one ton pumpkin)*, I saw the new trens in deep fried food:

Deep-Fried Bubble Gum.
Apparently they had it last year at the Texas State Fair – Massachusetts is always a year behind those Texas trend-setters

I tried the deep fried snickers once. It was completely disgusting and vile. I think I’ll pass on this one.

The new thing at the New York State Fair this year was deep fried jelly beans. I didn’t try them. Doesn’t sound appealing to me. Nor does deep fried bubblegum, especially since you’re not supposed to eat it when it isn’t deep fried. Bleah.

Hmm I had one a few weeks ago and my thoughts was that you can’t really fuck up a Snickers so it was good, because it was Snickers, but it would have tasted just as good without the coating and oil and extra $4 charge.
