Well, the “prolife” movement has no problem with calling us “pro-abortion.”
I use the phrase “pro-choice.”
I’m civil for my own self respect and not with any expectation that it be returned.
As most do. And it’s appreciated. I try hard to reciprocate.
(Although I do think there is an argument that “pro-choice” is a more accurate descriptor for being in favor of a woman’s ability/right to choose abortion than is “pro-life” for being opposed to abortion. But that’s been done to death, I reckon.)
The word they use is biased though - it denies the other side the right to use their own identifier, by implying that they are “anti-life.”
Neutral terms are best - anti-abortion vs. pro-choice or pro-abortion-rights.
I’ve never been denied the option of identifying as pro-choice by having used the term pro-life and have never felt that the opposite of pro-life is anti-life. They are labels and not literal descriptions.
Your opinion on abortion is factual…
good to know thanks
What other opinions of yours are factual?
Beer is healthier than water?
Red wine is better than white wine?
Anal sex is a crime against humanity?
And if you aspire to be just liked as them, then you’ll act just like them. Your choice. (No pun intended)
You’re welcome.
Well bless your heart, ain’t you just the sweetest, politest, nicest lawyer a person ever met.
So out of curiosity, how do you make of a liberal/left-leaning pro-lifer like me? By that I mean I consistently support the candidates of the Democratic Party and support things like universal health care, maternity/paternity leave, guaranteed access to birth control, universal childcare, food stamps for needy families, and so forth. Nonetheless, I cannot in good conscience support legalized human abortion which I believe to involve the taking of human life.
I’d personally assume you’re brainwashed by your religion. There are secular pro-lifers, of course, but they’re pretty rare in my experience.
The fact that you awkwardly use the term “cuck” suggests you have a fucked up view of sexuality.
AFAIK, Ms. Brains may have spoken to the Congressman’s aide, or such. But that he uttered profanities is certainly believable. Indeed, given the despicable nature of anyone who would sponsor such a law (or the despicable character of a large plurality of GOP Congressmen in general), it might be more surprising if he didn’t utter profanities!
IANAL and am also unclear about recording laws, but anyway I think it’s likely that “illegally” was just an extra adverb that got injected into the post without much thought one way or the other. But in any event …
Anyone who imagines that Ms. Brains knows recording would have been legal, but pretended to believe otherwise thinking it would further a lie has been over-indulging in mind-altering drugs.
Brickforbrains — don’t give up your day job to write whodunnits if this is your insight into human nature.
And, here’s Brickforbrains, repeating his same false, pretentious, tiresome, and irrelevant “insight” over and over ad nauseam.
Hey, Brickforbrains — what happened to the other thread, where you made an obviously stupid comment about Social Security, defended it for a dozen posts until someone was kind enough to lead you by the hand to grasp the stupidity, then replaced it with another stupid wrong statement? After even your revised statement was shown to be arithmetic gibberish, you abandon that thread, not even flushing the toilet of your shit, and come over here, with no contribution to offer except to accuse Ms. Brains of being a liar!
I see why we call you Brickforbrains.
What a pathetically limp response.
There’s nothing inconsistent with being liberal politically and believing that terminating a pregnancy at a certain time is wrong.
In fact, pretty much everyone, probably even you, believes there is a point where a pregnancy shouldn’t be terminated. It’s just a matter of when. Even Roe v. Wade said that government may pretty much ban all abortion in the third trimester. Very few people support abortion rights up to the due date.
To go around saying that anyone who disagrees with you is “brainwashed” is lazy and rude and doesn’t further the debate.
We do? I was unaware of this.
That never happened.
Is what happened.
My response was of acceptable turgidity, thank you.
And believing it’s wrong at all stages after conception, is highly correlated with religion.
And I never said that* liberal political thinking was incompatible with religion*, so your objection is pretty much goofy.
Again, that’s not the issue, putting the date at conception forward is the issue. Your thinking on this is muddled, because, I assume, you want to reflexively white-knight religion. Cool on you, you respect people of faith. So do I. I can respect someone, and think their position on certain issues is due to indoctrination.
I know intelligent and decent religious people. But those beliefs are inherently irrational and silly.
I didn’t go around saying that. I said, “I’d assume it’s because [he’s] brainwashed…”
I even said that there are secular people against abortion. But those people, are rare, so given that I know Qin (or at least his socially crippled posting style) and know he’s a bible thumping goofball, this guides my assumption.

I would say that a person who aborts a healthy child is a just a moron.
Any one who believes they have the right to murder another I think would support just killing anyone because that was their whim at the time.
Children have rights I say and the baby in the mothers body is the most unsafe place to be in the year 2016 that says a lot for society now doesn’t it, backwards as in my opinion.
I don’t know how a person could live with themselves, many women have a hell of a problem years after such that I know of.
Yes, but you’re clearly a fucking moron. So, yanno. You got that going for you.
English? Ever heard of it?
