I think they will follow Matt rather fervently, since he will tell them about his miracles while in town, that is what they are all there for. I think Murphy will punish him plenty for that. Or we can get more of clan of the cave bear.
So why is John Murphy so insistent that no one acknowledge that there is anything supernatural going on in the town? Are we going to get an episode to explain that? And the three girls disappeared shortly after Kevin, his daughter and Nora (and the baby) arrived in the town. Is there something going on to keep the town population stable at 9,261?
I’m guessing we’ll get an episode soon that follows John or the Murphy family and we’ll see a bit more about why he’s so insistent there’s nothing supernatural going on. He’s a main character, and in this season and last the episodes switch off who they are following for the majority of the episode.
I’m guessing it’s not something about keeping the population stable. There are places to rent, and people coming in town. And Matt and Mary came to town earlier without anyone going missing.
I think part of it was referenced in when John was talking about his wife - that she’s still deaf and hasn’t been ‘healed’ and what makes her not good enough for a miracle to happen.
Thank you for the link. I feel bad for people who will binge watch this show. I turned the last episode off twice for a minute or two, Matt can really take some punishment.
Linky no worky.
Huh… it works for me.
Oops, now it does for me, too. Tried it twice before and it didn’t. Thanks.
That was some scene with Erika and Nora. Regina King has been around for a long time, but Carrie Coon is terrific too. And the intensity stayed ramped up when she sat down with Kevin, so much so that I nearly jumped out of my skin when the rock came through the window.
That whole final 10 minutes was fantastic, reminiscent of the penultimate episode last season in terms of intensity.
And hooray for answers, though I’d already learned what the deal with the goat was from one of the linked articles.
I don’t think Nora and Kevin should have a baby in that home.
I’m really digging this show. There’s not a single character or plot line I’m not interested in.
You’re right–they should leave the baby outside.
The ‘lensing’ idea is interesting, and a real punch in the gut to Nora to think she could be the reason her husband and children departed.
I was glad we got more background on the goat sacrifices and the buried bird. I’m still curious about that big glass box that was in the road in the first episode.
Last we saw Tommy, it looked like he and his mom were about to start up their own cult. But now mom calls and asks Nora if she’s seen Tommy.
That was Bill Murray’s brother Joel as the questionnaire guy.
Joel Murray’s had a long, interesting career so far. Supporting character on Dharma & Greg, he was Freddy Rumsen (the ad man who pissed his own pants) on Mad Men and if you like absurd, dark comedies, check out Joel as the lead in the film God Bless America.
Last time we saw Tommy, he was telling his horrified mother that he thinks the Guilty Remnant has answers and offers something of real value. Seemed like he was about to (try to) join up for real, and mom was desperately trying to steer him away from that.
Well the very last scene was Tommy talking to the ex-Guilty Remnant people, talking about Holy Wayne, then offering a hug like Holy Wayne would do. I don’t think he’d join the GR, but maybe he’d start up some combination of GR and Holy Wayne’s teachings.
Indeed. And I really loved that since the episode was told from the point of view of Nora and Erika, that when Kevin told Nora about ghost Patti, we never saw her, whereas, we usually do. It was a brilliant choice. I think a lesser show would have turned the camera to Kevin’s POV and showed Patti for a second. This way it made Kevin seem as crazy as he thinks he would have come across.
I am not sure why Nora was leaking the secondary questionnaire to Erika, Nora said she did not believe the girls departed. Nora is taking care of her SIL, learns she might be a lens, is handcuffing herself every night to a person that says he is losing his mind, and has a new adorable baby. She may be in the market for a new hand gun and vest.
The lensing idea was plausible until the scientist told Nora on the phone that the demon Azrael was behind it.
Because she was desperate to believe that they didn’t depart. Erika’s answers indicated to Nora that, in fact, they did, and she lashed out in fear and anger.
