I enjoyed it well enough, but I kept expecting Timothy Hutton to show up.
At this point I like the movies better. Noah Wylie’s character has grown to be annoying. Starting out he was more fun.
I just watched the pilot on demand. Which was actually the first two episodes together. I liked it. It was light and fun.
If you do not get TNT (or you missed it) - the 1st two episodes will be on CW tonight (Friday)
I liked the movies so it will probably give it a shot

Commercials make it look sort of like Warehouse 13.
Is it easy to follow if you haven’t seen any of the previous Librarian TV movies?
We watched part of the first episode last night. I have seen only the first movie. Was Wylie the Librarian? I thought he was Newhart’s assistant.
One wonders if the series copied Warehouse 13, or Warehouse 13 copied the Librarian films. Warehouse 13 reminded me of the Librarian, so I vote for the latter.
This show looks like the 80’s. Cheap scenery, terrible fight scenes, groaner one liners, wtf is this plot, kinda stuff.
Is it an awesome show? Maybe not but it makes me chuckle is so many different ways.
I can’t wait to watch some more.
I saw him in the credits, but it was still a shock to see Matt Frewer (aka Max Headroom)

I haven’t seen any of the movies and had no problems following.
Did anyone else get the Wolfram & Hart vibe off this last episode? I thought I was going to see Angel pop in at any moment.
To be fair, it’s not like Warehouse 13 was a unique fascinating original flower of a concept.
I think any creative who saw the ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark has thought… “What if…”
This so reminds me of the Friday the 13th Series back in the late 80s. I suspect the ‘find the magical objects’ trope has been done long before that.
Saw it described as an American Doctor Who, or at least trying to channel that vibe. Watched the pilot with Wylie and he very much seem to be channeling Tennant and Smith. It would have been more enjoyable if I had not been thinking this the whole time. The pilot came off as derivative and not very creative, the crown story could have been a Who script.
However, the first real episode was entertaining if not very deep. The show is aiming for fun and hit it. It earned a spot on the DVR. Besides, any show with Laroquette as a regular and promises a guest appearance by Bruce Campbell has my attention.
I have not seen the movies, was Wylie’s character the same in those? Because they predate the new Who by a year.
Wylie is the Librarian. Newhart and Curtin are his mentors. (Although the third movie hints at some major backstory for Newhart.)
The first Librarian movie aired in 2004.
Warehouse 13 premiered in 2009.
Yup. Wylie’s character becomes the rookie Librarian in the first movie, and gets more comfortable with the job in the next two. It looks like he is going to be a background character in the series (sort of like Newhart and Curtin were in the movies).
VERY much. I’m enjoying it the same way I enjoyed Buffy/Angel. One reviewer of the show (and the comments for it) talked about Kane reminding them of a character he played in another show. (Legit maybe?) But I keep being reminded of Angel.
Who is Kane?
I cannot but think of Robert E. Howard.
His Kane was good at this sort of thing.
Christian Kane is the actor that plays the Jr. Librarian that’s the fighting oil patch working/ classicist knowledge having guy. The character he played worked for the big ‘E’ Evil lawfim Wolfram & Hart on Angel.
Thanks.
The actor would make a good Solomon Kane.
Jesus, only Conan or Solomon Kane would spend the night at the Cleft Skull Tavern with a suspicious fellow.
We watched the second episode last night. Not bad.
Bruce Campbell as Santa was awesome! What a cute episode (I even liked the schmaltzy ending a bit).
