The Lincoln Project

This is my position, too. I haven’t sent them a dime and don’t plan to.

If the analysis by November 3 is that LP hasn’t placed many ads in swing states, then that should be widely reported.

We don’t know that the Democrats (presumably) who sent them money would, if LP didn’t exist, have sent money, instead, into competitive Senate races. Maybe they would have given their money ONLY to what is, for them, entertainment.

If the LP brass are con artists, then shame on them. Let them be exposed by solid reporting.

At least we’ve learned that there is a lot of potential profit in catering to the tastes of people who despise Trumpism. I guess that knowledge is a fair trade for letting Kurt Bardella make a few mortgage payments.

There’s a Trump merch clearance sale

I’ve wondered all along where these ads were played. The only ones I’ve seen have been on You Tube. I don’t watch a lot of TV, so I’m far from the best resource- but I haven’t seen any on television. Literally all of them have been on You Tube, and that’s easy, because once you click one, the rest get recommended.

Right, and that reaches only those who already despise the man.

The only reason I brought up pilots was, as it pertains to the Sully commercial - people like that are not, generally, as a rule, going to like someone like Trump who’s the exact opposite of precision and attention to detail. Pilots are rigidly indoctrinated in following procedures, having plans, and being responsible. They may be a hard-partying lot when they’re off the clock, but during the time when they’re actually doing their jobs - which, for most of them, is what they live for - they have to be the epitome of organized, controlled, focused, and careful. And so of course these people are GENERALLY not going to be on board with someone like Trump. They may be Republicans, but NOT the kind that are actively enthusiastic about Trump.

I imagine that any $$$ left over will be used in future campaigns. I don’t expect LP to go away just because they accomplish (assuming that they do, of course) their primary objective. They could become another influence group in the Republican party pushing for acceptable (to them) candidates. How they’d be able to fund raise once they’ve slain the dragon is, of course, another question.

They just put up some billboards in NC - one of them is in my county.

My Dad and two brothers are pilots. They just love to fly. All three started out in the military, then moved to commercial while flying for the AF Reserves or Air National Guard. None of them are Republicans although one brother claims to be independent. The other brother and my Dad are Democrats.

Whether they did it in response to criticism, or intended to do it all along, the result is good and useful.

“Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have threatened to sue the Lincoln Project, if the anti-Trump Republicans do not remove two huge billboards from Times Square in New York City, in which they accuse the senior White House advisers of showing “indifference” to Americans suffering and dying under Covid-19.”

They’re getting under someone’s skin. That’s great, but I want to see results in the vote!

Lincoln Project is not being particularly conciliatory towards the threat of a libel suit:

Typical Trump bullshit bluster that will never result in a lawsuit. And if they are actually dumb enough to proceed they will likely lose after spending ridiculous sums of money on lawyers.

I hope they stay. I gave a lot, I am not a Dem, wasn’t going to give to Dems, but was glad to have a way to fight back internally against Trumpism.

I recently heard one of the founding members say they intend to continue to fight Trumpism long past the election in their quest to restore their party, or in some cases former party, to some semblance of decency.

I hope this gives you a measure of comfort. It did me, and I am now a registered Democrat after having been a fierce independent for most of my voting life – which now spans more than 40 years.

In which The Lincoln Project calls Trump a turd sandwich.

I guess all I can say for the time being is that for a bunch of Republicans, they’re not toeing the party line, which is something. That they actively endorsed Biden is another.

That’s a great one. Too bad his followers are immune to ads like that since they’ve already developed a turd mentality.

I missed this one.

Yes although I am not becoming a Democrat

Is there any chance they can make one more advertisement for an audience of one that says:
Just like we thought, you are not man enough to accept defeat and show some class. We always knew you were too petty to show ‘high class’ demeanor and polish so you COULD have a shot in 2024.

Now we just HOPE you do run so we can humiliate you again because now we KNOW we have you nailed!

Just something to get him to think: Oh yea, that’s what YOU think, I CAN resign with dignity and class!

As long as the donators keep track of what’s going on, it doesn’t matter what their intent is. As long as, if they don’t do what you want them to do, you stop paying them, they will wind up doing what you want them to do or no longer exist.

We saw that with swing state issue. People noticed no ads in swing states, and suddenly they had to make them. If people notice their ads are bad, they’d have to make better ones. (Though, in my opinion, they hit the same way as Republican ads do. The only problem I have is that they label all their ads with their name on YouTube, making them harder to share without people dismissing them because they know where they come from. There’s a reason modern political ads put who “supports this message” at the end.)
