Liberals so far significantly outperforming the threehundredeight model, which had the Maritimes going 26 Lib 3 Con 3 NDP. If this isn’t a strictly regional thing Trudeau will have 4 years before his next employment review.
It’s early yet. Even though the Liberals are outperforming the projection, that still has them only 6 seats up of the projection. And there’s no guarantees that the dynamics in Ontario, Quebec and BC will be the same.
Every seat in the Maritimes. Every seat! Wowsa!
(And I believe the Jays are ahead!)
Absolutely true. But while they’re only up 6 seats from the projection, their vote share is significantly higher across the board. Ridings which were projected as tight battles are Liberal cakewalks.
If the vote share deviates nationally from late opinion polls in favour of the Liberals by even a few points, then the Liberals could go over 40% and into majority territory.
Yeah, I am curious if this is a reflection of strategic voting. If the Liberals pick up a couple of percentage points of likely NDP voters who decide that they’d prefer to see Harper go down, then that’s a gigantic shift in this election.
I know! Good TV tonight, eh? ![]()
The Liberals always pick up a bunch of “likely” NDP votes. They always chicken out at the last second, afraid of throwing their vote away. I thought it might be different this time with the NDP in the official opposition but I guess not.
181 seats at this point for the Liberals. That’s a majority and then some, not even counting BC seats yet. They’ll end up over 200 at this rate.
“Prime Minister Trudeau”!
CBC isn’t projecting a Liberal majority yet, just a Liberal government, but that’s something. I’m personally disappointed with the poor outcome for the NDP, but dammit, it’s great to see Harper sent out to pasture. I predict he’ll resign, but who knows. I also predict a Jays win tonight! ![]()
Wow! CBC now officially projects a majority Liberal government!
AND the Jays are crushing it!
It is indeed great to see the sonofabitch go. Heavy comeuppance earned, and delivered. I wonder if the poor performance by the NDP was due in part to the strategic thing - not so much an anti-NDP vote as an anti-Harper vote. I’ve never been a great Trudeau fan in general, but who knows? Harper clearly misunderestimated him, as did Brazeau
Maybe he’ll do something worthwhile. Who knows, maybe Vancouver will get our coast guard station back. Maybe people will continue to get their mail delivered. It had to be Trudeau or Mulcair, come what may but Harpo had to go. Thank you my fellow canucks. God bless you all. I love you madly! For a while anyway : )
I think people were afraid if they voted NDP we’d end up with a minority government. Then the conservatives need only pick their moment to bring it down and boom! Another election cycle.
And no one wants to get back into that cycle, I think!
(And props to those who voted in ski masks, hockey masks, even a guy I with a pumpkin over his head.! I love this country!)
Yeah… we’ll see what Trudeau can do, I don’t have high expectations. The important thing is that smug, nasty muppet-headed frat boy is out and hopefully the rest of the greedy frat house with him.
Good riddance Harper.
I wonder if anyone against the Monarchy is voting for this twit who’s only claim to fame is his father’s name? Truly baffled that people are so shallow.
It’s always good to have a comprehensive, in-depth analysis of the issues, thanks.
The issue is that the only reason this guy is leading the Liberal party is because of who his daddy was. I’ve not commented on any other ‘issue’, but in this one issue I am 100% accurate.
I don’t like political dynasties, but any port in Hurricane Harper.
Harper was trying to say the election wasn’t about him. I wonder if he actually believed that.
