The lost art of Letter Writing - for your MMP consideration

Good Morning and welcome to Always Brings Pie’s TMI morning post.

It is entirely too early to be awake today and I NEED to get ahold of my regular doctor because I think that I have a Urinary Tract Infection. Ok, so I’ve probably had it for a couple of months now, even my psych doctors suspect it due to my too high white blood cell count, but it’s start to intrude on, uh, private aspects of my life.

That’s all I have to say about that.

[/TMI]

Have a happy day all and remind me to tell you later about my extremely pushy employee.

ETA: Wow! First twice in one week!!

ETA #2: I, for one, welcome our new Flashing Banner Overlords.

Oh, you should definitely get that taken care of, Cutie Pie. You really don’t want a kidney infection, too.

It’s sad that your kitties must suffer so, Shadow.

Dress sounds pretty, Hank.

The banner ads make me sad because I’m sure we’ll lose some of our most valuable members because of them. It’s also a shame that so many people (including me) feel like they have to spend otherwise useful energy talking about this. Also, it makes it clear that whoever is making decisions has no idea what this board is about and who actually comes here. :frowning: But I’m not seeing them because of AdBlock.

Gotta get ready for work. Don’t wanna.

GT

Vertical, caffeinated, and off to work.

gt, I thought Don Wanna was in England, did she transfer?

At work, finally, and caffeinating.

I am filled with much grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! this morning. I took a call last night for a 2nd crew run for an old lady who had a stroke, and it got me home waaaay late. It was almost midnight before I got to bed. I usually get up around 5 AM.

So, this morning, I’m on the way to work in the NerdMobile[sup]tm[/sup]. Less than a quarter mile into Virginia, my eyes glaze over, I got a little too close to the edge of the road, and clipped a garbage can also too close to the edge with my passenger side mirror. The mirror mounts broke, and the assembly took out the passenger side window.   :smack: :smack: :smack:

The only casualty was my underwear, BTW. I am fine. I took the car home and got VWife’s van, since I wasn’t going to do the remaining 85 miles of my round trip commute in a car with no heat and a permanently open window.

This is shaping up to be one of those periodic episodes where all I hear is the sound of the universe cocking the f*ck with Bob gun.

Morning, everyone.

My throat hurts a little. I’m dosing with orange juice and vitamin c. I am not getting sick. I have things to do in the next few days, and I need to be healthy.
I am not fond of the ads, either.

I’m royally pissed about the banner ads’ issue.

Not the ads themselves – they got blocked in 2 minutes flat (although this also blocked the google ads, which were an occasional chuckle-inducer… too bad) – but about the whole way TPTB are treating the issue; a mix of snark, wrong information and now just plain ignoring us

Oh, and good morning to all the Americans, boos and yays as appropriate, etc…

I don’t see any ads!!! What the heck are y’all talking about?

Oh, and good morning. Bob, that really sucks! I’m glad that you are ok, though. You better be more careful, young man! Don’t scare us like that.

I’m crossing appropriate appendages that you don’t get teh sick, LiLi.

My husband invited a friend home for dinner last night. He told me at 5:00 pm! It was ok, I already had planned to make enchiladas, so I just had to make a few more. This guy (Glen) was in town for one night on business, so I didn’t mind. Too much. He was nice enough, but boy, he could talk your ear off! At least I could zone out and watch TV while he and Mr Rebo talked. I watched the Grinch!

Better get to work. Later, gators…

I actually kinda miss the Google ads, but to block those damn banners the others have to go as well. I don’t mind them on free sites so much, but when I pay to post here it pisses me off. Probably not enough to leave, unless there’s a huge rebellion and everybody moves onto another board elsewhere at once, though.

yawn It snowed! And it’s going to snow some more later, judging from the storm heading in from the Pacific! Yay! I don’t know how much yet, it’s still too dark, but what with the other day’s I’d say we probably have about three inches here and there. And looking at the forecast, they’re talking about snow every few days at most. Now all we need is the first really big dump of it, but I’m still happy. Next thing it needs to do is snow during the day again so I can admire how pretty it is coming down.

I haven’t seen ads of any kind on almost any sites since I started using Firefox with the adblock, and flashblock extensions. Ads or not, makes little difference to me, really.

Is it Friday yet?

You know how people talk about herding cats? Try getting 30 people, several of whom have their own private agendas, to come to a consensus on setting attendance boundaries for new schools. Makes herding cats seem like swatting dead flies.

I just went to the pit thread about the ads, and decided to log out. You can see them then. I logged back in and they went away. No big deal to me!

Sleeeeeepy. :o (yawn)

Scary stuff, gotti. Hope DH is ok.

Sorry about the car, bbbobbio. Make sure you remember to take care of yourself while trying to take care of everyone else. If you fall asleep and go off the road, who will put out all those Mayberry fires?

I can has nap time now?

Morning. Caffeinated. Workin’. Terse. Going on break. Back in 20.

Hi, everybody. I really, really did not want to get out of bed this morning. It’s grey and gloomy out, and I just want to sleep. Phooey on work.

Bobbio, you be careful, young man! Sleep in a couple of hours extra if need be and call in to work. Which is more important, your life or a couple hours of sick time?

We definitely wants pics of the dress, Haze. Even though some of us just want to see it to admire your fashion sense, not for other :dubious: reasons.

I’ve decided not to be pissed about the ads. That’s what Adblock is for. The board has steadily improved in performance for me since they went to pay and added Google ads, so even if there are occasional glitches, it’s still not like the bad old days when I’d go clean the kitchen and come back to find the page still not quite loaded. If it takes a few seconds of my time to block annoying ads, so be it.

Flashblock? Remind me to go add that one on as soon as I’m done writing this post. I love Firefox.

I’d better get back to work; I still have a bit to finish up this morning before I can goof off the rest of the day (by doing things other than work, not totally goofing off). I’ve earned a partial goof-off day, the way I’ve been working lately!

What a #%#% day. I decided, just for fun, to dip my thumb into boiling water this morning. The rest of the day has gone downhill from there and it’s only 11 a.m. I did manage to make an appointment with my doctor, but then I had to change it. I will get in this afternoon, though.

Just wanted to add a little bragging shot of the layout for the windows of my shop. We’re going to get vinyl lettering put up next week and this is the ‘artists rendering.’ I’ll post the pictures after it is done.

VBob, glad you’re ok.

Very cute, Pie!
I’ve got the ads, but not audio. I never made the switch to Firefox, because I’m technologically inept. If I get audio, I might switch.
Okay. I have tidied quite a lot (not up to QD’s standards, but whatever), vacuumed, and mopped the hall, kitchen, and livingroom. Which meant sliding some furniture around. So I now deserve a nice half-hour reading before I put everything back, and clear off the table, maybe scrub the kitchen, and do some laundry. If I feel like it.

I think this is the very first time I’m moved furniture to vacuum and mop since we’ve moved in, and it’s not likely to happen next month, and then the baby arrives. May not get done again for years.

I need a Roomba.

Throat is definitely sore. More tea.

Thanks. Just posting because I finally have the opportunity to call you PieBabe

LiLi, I need a HouseBa.

Can I get a DeskBa?

Okay Mumpers, I had a very odd e-mail request from a friend today, which I made into a thread in IMHO.

Input is welcomed!

I’m going to post my reply here, MBG - I think DianaG’s reply was the best. Something personal and inexpensive, like a CD or a book or a trinket, that she can explain as a personal purchase sounds nice. What a weird thing to ask advice about, though.

(Your thread reminded me of a conversation I had with Cloud Maiden awhile ago, about how I wasn’t even getting the “perks” of being a “proper” mistress, like silk lingerie and expensive jewelry. )

VBob glad your OK…sorry about the damage to the NerdMobile

So…Heating contractor turns up yesterday afternoon at the reasonable time of 1.45PM (not bad at all in the 1-5PM window). He switches heat on the weird noise is gone (imagine that). Him and Libby have a stare down contest - you can tell she is thinking, “I can take him with one paw tied behind my back!”. Then he goes up on the roof. Contractors assitant goes up and down a couple of times then contractor comes down and they put the ladder back on the truck - this takes all of 10 minutes. Yippee thinks I - nothing wrong yay!

Contractor comes back in and says:

You have big problems

Bugger says I.

Anyway he brings in a Carbon Monoxide detector and the levels are dangerously high. There is a massive crack in the heat exchanger plus a bunch of other problems. It is to dangerous to operate

So thanks to my handy dandy home warrenty they will replace it but jeez…Thinking about it I have had killer headaches and have been asleep on couch by 8-8.30 for the past couple weeks - early signs of CO poisoning!!!

Scared the living daylights outta me!

So last night it got down to about 43 degrees and I was freezing in the house. I even slept with jammies on when I normally sleep [TMI] nekkid [/TMI] and Libby burrowed under the covers to sleep as well.

So I am currently waiting on a call from the adjuster and I am digging out my house inspection papaerwork. I am so glad I didn’t cancel the service after dealing with the idiot on reception the other day

Oh I also went to Home Depot and bought a CO detector last night

I haven’t checked to see if this was answered yet further on, but here’s what I’ve heard. The pistachios from Iran were dyed red to distinguish them from every other country’s nuts. At least originally. And who knows, this may even be correct.

And now, I have about a day and a half to come up with my favorite 100 albums (CDs) for the 1990s.
