The lost art of Letter Writing - for your MMP consideration

Bed made. Yay!

check out Rebo’s Recipe thread

Nice dress, Haze. And I loved what I’ve read of your ‘imaginary’ thread.

Good luck at the show, FCM. I hope you unload lots of cr… I mean beautiful works of art. (I’m only kidding about the cr of course. I think your stuff is totally neat!)

It’s a sad day here. TVMan called me late this afternoon to tell me that they had taken TVPup to the animal hospital. The news is that she is either severely dehydrated or her kidneys are failing. This is a worse blow than you might even think because he and his fiancee acquired this dog together back in 2001 or 2002. That was before she, his fiancee, passed away due to waiting for a kidney transplant.

So, TVPup is at the hospital with an IV for fluids. We went to visit her tonight and took her favorite toy. It’s one of the saddest scenes that I’ve ever experienced.

We got a bit more snow today, just a quarter-inch or so, but the fun part was that I was out running errands when it happened! It was barely doing anything when I left, but ten minutes later there were some real flakes falling. I’ll quit counting times I’ve driven in snow after today, since I think what we have isn’t going anywhere until next spring and will only be added to, but as of this evening my total is four times.

Poor TVPup. I hope they can get her feeling better, whatever happens.

The other day I saw another car here with Maryland plates. I wonder what they’re doing all the way out here? Of course, this last week, I’m sort of wondering what I’m doing out here, but I’m not going anywhere.

I am still at work working on this stoopid presentation

But I am trying to get it doen so I don’t need to mess with it over the weekend.

I get my haircut at 9AM tomorrow then it will be off to but Christmas toys for my god children and one for ‘Toys for Tots’

Have a good weekend!

Oh, that’s so sad, Cutie Pie. Good thoughts going out to you, TVMan and TVpup.

Pretty dress, Hank. Suits you nicely (not a surprise).

I’ve added the first in the series to my to-read list on GoodReads, LiLi. (Why aren’t you and Haze over there, by the way? It’s quite fun.) Here’s the group page.. I’ve gotten lots of ideas for interesting books to read from there. Of course, I also wander through the Whatcha Readin’ thread in CS and a similar thread on one of the offshoot boards and, of course, get suggestions from the MMP, but I keep my lists of books I want to read (and those I’ve read and own) on GoodReads.

Haven’t seen the imaginary thread yet. I’ll wander there next. I’m thinking of recipes to contribute to Rebo’s thread, too.

I’ve been home for a while. Haven’t gotten a lot done, but I’m happy to be able to relax a bit before having a fairly busy Saturday.

I take it swampy hasn’t found magnificent wi-fi connections on the road. Isn’t he supposed to be in Cincinnati tonight?

Guess I should move on to the next thread and then consider crawling into bed…

I had an eighteen hour day, Nelly is on The List for spreading the contents of the garbage can all over the floor.

Hugs for TVpup.

U p and back to work.

Thanks for the link. I might join. My choice of reading tends to be haphazard, just whatever I pick up that looks interesting.

((((Pie TVPup TVMan))))

I’m up. Last night a friend came over for a couple of hours (the loud friend who wanted me to read that extensive article on Martin Luther’s views on Mary), I made dinner, and then Attacks Husband turned up for the rest of the evening. We watched Buffy and Doctor Who and hung out.

Halfway through Buffy, QD called in a rage, because she’d just had a huge argument with her mother over whether they should have wine as well as coffee and tea and probably punch at the shower. And her mother was suddenly insisting on a sheet cake, too. I promised to make the damn cake, as well as pita and hummus. I think I’ll do cupcakes, instead. Her mother weirds me out.

I wonder if I can persuade Mr. Lissar to wash the dinner dishes while I’m at the Market. He’ll probably scoot off to the dojo right after he gets up. It’s Market, chores and baking, church, and then either Lazy Husband’s or come home and do laundry and finish the baking. And the shirt I want to wear tomorrow.

Good morning, everybody. I was awakened by the phone ringing. Which Papa Tigs grabbed. Then it rang again. And again… and again… and intermixed with that were calls on his cell and his BlackBerry; at one point he was on one call and had three more waiting. They’ve been having problems at the hospital, surprise! I tried to ignore it, but eventually, having awakened, my kidneys assured me I couldn’t do that any more. Try as he might, Papa Tigs simply cannot train everyone at work to call his BlackBerry (now that he’s a gummint employee and has an official one) and not the house phone or cell phone. Oh well, at least they waited till a decent hour to call the house phone and wake me up. :frowning:

I swear, though, if the BlackBerry networks went down, the gummint would have to close its doors.

No big plans for this weekend, and especially now that Papa Tigs is tied up with work problems. Oh well, they sent me a pile of work last night to get done over the weekend anyway. Envy me my exciting life.

Off to caffeinate some more.

Good morning!

Breakfast has been et - we had pancakes and sausage. Mmm.

I’m doing laundry and I’m this close to going to clean our bathroom. Then maybe straighten up the bedroom and dust it.

Later I have to go find a purty shiny little clutch for the formal company party we’re attending this Friday night. I also need to make an appointment to get my hair done. I have to get my nails done, too. I’ll be so purtified nobody will recognize me! I think it will be fun. A lot of the employees are from Scotland and they will be wearing kilts - formalwear for them, I understand.

Is someone signed up for Monday, Dec. 10? I’ll take it and tell about the party and post pics of Mr Rebo and me all gussied up! If it’s reserved, I’ll just post the pics in that thread.

Later!

Up, coffeefied, and Cheerio-ed.

Wife is crabby and mad for some reason she won’t explain.

It’s going to snow/sleet today and I have to put the lighted snowman and such crap in the yard today.

So that’s my day.

Have put off too much grad school work.

Am now drowning in said work.

Must go do said work.
And get tree with fambly.

And must have more brownies, but no more peanut butter in house. :frowning:

Will make other brownies and do some work while said brownies bake!

Ice storm must hold off until food foraging has been done. Food foraging is on Mondays now. Mother Nature, take note.

TVPup has passed on.

Good morning everyone. I’m vertical, but not quite awake. The coffee will finish brewing soon, so hopefully a cup or ten will make me a little more alert.

Cutiepie, I’m so sorry about Tvpup.

I am, thus far, unimpressed by our “snow event”. I’ve got barely even a dusting on the ground. Pffffft…if it’s gonna snow, it needs to dump a good two or three feet, then the roads need to be magically clear by Monday morning. Is that so much to ask?

I am hoping I don’t have any plans for today. Somehow, I don’t think that will come to pass.

{{{CuteyPie}}} That’s so sad :frowning: How’s he taking it?

{{{**Papa **and Mama Tigs}}} too, for the double weekend workloads.

And a hug for {Rigs} who seems to need some encouragement, too. You can get that homework done!

On a lighter note, yay for snow (and SnowBunny)

Haze, I think the controversy over your dress calls for a few more pictures in order to clear things up

Spent most of the day in Jerusalem, visiting my father… Orthopedically, he’s fine, but there’s some post-op swelling in some nasty places, so he’s not being let out to the “half-way house” (rehab center, where he’s supposed to spend 2-3 weeks) for a few more days yet. Could be worse.

Evening all. Drive-by …

Happy Belated Birthday to Nooner and Meeks. Hugs for Pie and TVMan. Busy weekend getting organised for Christmas and chauffeuring Noor and hubby to hospital clinics and pharmacies for tests and prescription refills.

[channelling Yul Brynner] etcetera, etcetera, etcetera … [/cYB]

More tomorrow, when I will hopefully have time to post from work!

Appropriate boos, yays, hugs etc. for anyone else I missed!

Cute cat pic!

Okay, this snow thing is weird. The sun is trying to come out, but it’s snowing – not heavily, but decent sized flakes all the same. I’ve seen that happen with rain, but not snow. It almost looks like it’s just blowing off the roofs and trees, but not quite, and I think it’s too even-looking for that, since there doesn’t seem to be any wind to speak of. It’s purty, whatever it’s doing! My roommate was completely blown away by the idea of three inches of snow on the ground being a major emergency. I love the reaction that one gets. I need to tell him about the time my brother got a snow day…when it didn’t actually snow.

That is an adorable pic, Haze. Now I want a kitty. Of course, I always want a kitty.

Nothing’s happening here today. My roommate is at work. I have no plans. Life is looking up, except that I haven’t really been able to do any job hunting this last week. But starting Monday, I will.

OOOh, ice storm hath begun.

So not going anywhere today.

Okay, if I come back in here without saying I’ve finished my thrice-damned cover letter, someone slap me.
