The lost art of Letter Writing - for your MMP consideration

Since **Swampy **is AWOL…

“Have you written your cover letter, young lady!?”

Thanks for the sympathy about the weekend workloads, Special One, except that Papa Tigs confessed to me that he really enjoys being in the middle of resolving a crisis and getting big problems solved (and they had big problems – no access to the patient information system, the VOIP phones not working correctly, etc.). It’s his favorite thing to do, I swear, is get the adrenaline pumping and make everybody else get their asses in gear and get things done. He makes an excellent taskmaster, or spider in the middle of the web pulling strings, or something.

Me, however, I was looking forward to a quiet weekend of putting my feet up and watching DVDs. :frowning: Oh well, hopefully I’ll be able to do that one day this week if I’m a good girl this weekend.

Cute kitty pic, Haze! My kitty loves to curl up next to me, too. In fact, this morning I really felt guilty for moving her to get out of bed – she was lying with my arm wrapped around her and her head and curled-up front paws just under my chin, with her purr cranked up to “Total Bliss.” It’s amazing how cats sleep 23.9 hours a day and yet make you feel guilty for disturbing them, isn’t it?

No snow here, although my mother reports snow in her part of Seattle (Sammamish plateau). I’m just as glad we haven’t got any yet; we need to get the leaves raked first. They’re still only about 50% down, although the rest look like it’s only going to take a moderate breeze to bring them down, too. At least I cleaned up the majority of the canine deposits the other day. Although they’ve probably dropped a few new loads; it’s truly astonishing how their output seems to exceed their input on a regular basis. Dogs!

Okay, back to work. Sigh. But before I go:

You get in gear writing that cover letter, young lady! No, don’t you make that face at me! And stop stomping your foot and rolling your eyes – you know you have to do it, so you just get in there and do it right this minute! [/channeling Swampy]

SQUEEEE!!
you look like twins, sorta.

It is good for nothing outside today, you may as well just write the damn letter, Haze.

I came out of the gym this morning, and it had started snowing. Took me 30 minutes to drive to the grocery store - normally a 5 minute trip. Went into the store.

Came out of the store and everything was covered in ice.

I do not believe holiday decorations will be put up outside today.

Wife Alert: Still crabby. Still acting mad. Still no explanation.

I’m trading her in.

Hugs to {{{Pie}}}

Home from the show, and to quote one other vendor: “This was the worst show I’ve ever done!!” There were about 24 vendors, tho some doubled up at tables. I don’t think there was a moment when customers outnumbered vendors. I sold a whopping $5 worth from my “Bargain Basement” - stuff I was trying to unload at 3/$5. And there was one woman who took my number - she wanted some doggie dishes, but she was out of money, so she said she’d call and come get them. We shall see.

As I was packing up, one of the vendors (who just happened to have opened a pet stuff store in Solomons last week) bought 2 doggies and 2 kitties at wholesale. ($40 for all 4) She also said I’m welcome to bring my critter pots to her store and sell them on consignment, so I may take her up on that.

Honestly, I was amazed that I didn’t sell any of my seasonal stuff - the arrangements or the snowfolk or even the penguin! Oh well - I’m ready for next Christmas.

Now I’m starving. I think I’ll take my massive profits <snerk> and take my sweetie out to supper.

Well, I want to thank you, Snowbunny and HazelNutIcedCoffee for the storm we’re gonna get here tomorrow . . .NOT!!!

Friend’s friend will not be moving in to the apartment, she cannot afford the rent. So, it’s back to the realtor who found me this tenant.

Today has been tough. He’s a very analytical person and has been trying to analyze how this happened and who, exactly to blame. Also, TVMom has been a royal pain in the behind. Her latest comment was this: You don’t need another dog, that dog died of neglect.

Good times.

 Holy Crap! Who says stuff like that?

Wait…how can you blame me for the storm? We really need the heavy snow! I’d much rather have had it here!

you wished for it, it’s coming from your neck of the woods, therefore it’s your fault.
Is it spring yet?

{{CutiePie}} it is always sad to loose a critter member of the family

Today was…hectic

I got my haircut, went to ToysRUs, went to the mall to pick up 2 things, came home and wrote couple Christmas cards to put in small present packages, went to post office and stood in line for 40 mins to post said packages, went to card shop to buy Christmas cards for my Mam, Dad & Sis, went to Barnes & Noble to get a gift card, came home talked to parents.

Just had a late lunch of baked potato soup and cresent rolls. I may now take a nap…or write Christmas cards hmmmmm

Anyways all my Christmas shopping is done now apart from Mr ems-to-be who is being extremely vague on what he wants for Christmas and I normally am the gift giving queen of ideas and I have got no clue what to get him. At all

{{{{Cutie Pie and TVMan}}}} So sorry about TVPup and what an insensitive thing for his Mom to say! :frowning:

Haze, what a cute pic of you and Olive–esp. how she has her little paws crossed!

I hope hope hope that we don’t get any nasty weather here! No wintry mix yet, please Og!! The forecasters are saying it should be mostly rain here, although it is the -stronger- storm. Mid-week we’ll get another, weaker system which could bring us our first snow of the season. This according to Steve Villanueva on Channel 4 here. And to any other dopers in the DC area, doesn’t he look a bit like Ross the Intern Mathews from the Tonight Show?! He even -sounds- a bit like him!! laughs Yes, I’m a Ross “Blog Buddy;” he’s a lot of fun, though. Really.

I’m awaiting delivery of dinner; I ordered some tandoori chicken from my local Pizza Boli’s. And in anticipation of the tandoori, I also made some chapatis. So I’ma eat good tonight, hopefully.

Pics of today - at least the first 6 on the page are. You can see how thrilled I am. The pic was taken first thing. By the end of the day, nothing had changed. At least you can see the snowfolk noses on some of these.

I’m getting snockered - loves me some toasted almond.

No, no, no. I wanted it to snow a lot here. I would have no reason to send it your way. Seriously, after that fire in August, we need all the moisture we can get!

Now that you mention it, Herbs, Steve Villanueva does kinda resemble Ross the Intern. Except that he’s thinner and much, much prettier. Seriously, that man is just amazingly pretty. I do enjoy watching him, for purely shallow reasons. I barely even notice his weather forecasts.

I’m glad I didn’t get a table at that show, FCM! That sounds like a total turkey. Sorry you didn’t do better. It’s hard to sell stuff without customers, though, isn’t it? The consignment idea sounds fun; your critter dishes are so cute!

I don’t know why I’m so sleepy, but I’ve been sleepy all afternoon. Is it bedtime yet?

Oh, I am full! The tandoori chicken (I got four pieces! breast, wing, thigh and leg!), rice and a small salad were delicious as were my chapatis, natch. I think the Pizza Boli franchisee in Hyattsville is Indian, which is good luck for me.

FCM, so sorry that the craft fair wasn’t better attended - or organized! Your display looked great and so do all your pieces. It’s a shame, really, because many would make wonderful Christmas gifts. :frowning:

Oooh yeah, MamaTigs, Mr. Steve is very easy on the eyes. He has a great sense of humor too and isn’t shy about poking fun at himself even.

Another reason I’m hoping for no nasty weather tomorrow is that I’ve still got to go grocery shopping!! And I don’t want to be in there with all those crazy shoppers who go wild at the mere mention of bad weather. I’m going to try to be in and out of there very early tomorrow am.

One paper done, and two paragraphs done on the next one. I have no motivation. I have seen the future homework and am now paralyzed by the sheer horror of it.

I am also very crabby. I have free floating crabbiness here–but I can certainly work up a massive dose of righteous indignation and/or defensiveness if need be. Thought that getting the tree would be a Good Family Thing. Bad thinking. But must admit that it was ME who was the one pissing in the Cheerios…
I wonder if one can score Thorazine online. I seem to need something like that. Or maybe just a wap upside the head or three.

Howdy Y’all! I’m in San Jose, finally. Geez what a week this has been! I have been from eastern to central time, back to eastern time, from eastern to mountain time and now pacific time. My brain is fried, fried, I say! Oh and a lot of work too. I should be doin’ some now but I ain’t and nobody can make me, So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hugs, boos, yays, congrats as needed. No I have not read the whole thread. I’s too tahred! More later when coherency sets in again.

My new computer is BUILT! Once I get Office put on it tomorrow, I will be a paper-writing fool.

I had a minor explosion this morning, so I decided to heck with this place and drove out to The Country Doctor Museum since today was open house. Today was also the Bailey Christmas Parade, so I milled about the gift shop and one of the displays until they opened up the other two buildings. I highly recommend it–very cool little museum. They have two pet leeches, an iron lung, a bone saw that may or may not have been used in Stonewall Jackson’s amputation, a 1912 and 1926 Ford, and lots of other cool stuff (like an ebony-handled tampon remover. I still haven’t figured that out).

My cat is tormenting the dog. I should probably put a stop to that, but they’re too much fun to watch.

Surprising discovery of the day:

Libby the crazy kitty does not like Catnip.

WTF???

She is currently chasing around a new mousey after her 6 hour afternoon nap

I wanna come back as a kitty
