The Lost Island of Music Videos

Another thread motivated to ask this question. Where do the videos go? I have seen or heard of videos I would like to see or own but can’t find them for sale. I hardly even see music videos anymore. I have VH-1 and MTV but they show about the same amount of videos as CNN.

Why are some videos made? Music channels won’t show them if they are not in their genre of music and the labels don’t sell them, so why make them in the first place?

Does anyone sell videos like singles,ie one or two at a time? Are there any alternatives to VH-1 and MTV?

Also there is a video director whose name I can’t say let alone spell.I remember he did Accept’s Midnight Mover and alot of others, does anyone have any info about him?

His name is Zbigniew Rybczynski According to this press release from Ultimatte Corporation, he’s now their Senior Developer (the link includes a brief resume). Mvdbase has a videography.

Try VH-1 Classic if you can find it. It’s where old videos go to die. For more current fare there’s MTV-2, MTV Jams, MTV Spanish and VH-1 Country (among probably others) and some cable and satelite providers offer MuchMusic out of Canada (although MTV strong-armed my cable company into replacing Much with MTV-2…bastards). Some artists have released video compilations. I never understood why MTV doesn’t offer some sort of video compilation tape (probably a rights and clearances issue).
