But, if Gingrich gets the nom, that’s OK too. Bill Clinton gave Gingrich a compliment the other day, and nobody outsmarts Bill. If he wants Gingrich to be the Republican, it’s because he knows something - something that will destroy Gingrich in the general election.

Is there any logic behind announcing that your “reassessing your candidacy” and then not withdrawing? I mean, if your going to keep on running, I don’t think its going to help you to have it publically known that you were so down on your chances that you were musing throwing in the towel.
So I predict this means he’s setting up for withdrawing.
Well, it could also be a trial balloon, to see if the people rise up and demand that you stay in the race because your party and your country need you. Of course you’d have to be crazy or an idiot to think that would happen…

Damn. And just yesterday, when I was taking part in my guilty pleasure of reading the local paper’s online comments, someone was hyping up Cain and Palin.
I’d say it was a troll, but the stuff the person was saying had me believing they really feels this way. Here I thought the USA’s problems were just 14 months away from being over… Back to the drawing board.

I suppose if you squint it might look a bit like a Marat-style assassination, but it seems pretty clear that his character got drunk and drowned in the bathtub.
I smell financial lies.
On Hannity last night, when asked if there was anything inappropriate in the text messages, Cain said “Absolutely not” and claimed that White initiated 47 text messages, all of which were “asking for financial help.”
"Cain continued: “Sean, unfortunately, I’m a softy, and I feel sorry for people when they get in deep financial trouble, especially given this economy and people being out of work. This isn’t the only person I have helped. There are members of my church, members of my family, you know other friends that I have helped all the time in terms of trying to help them during these tough economic times.”
Who asks for money 47 times in a row?
Sure, many people make loans to family and ‘church family-friends’. But Gloria Cain wasn’t aware of his friendship with Ginger White. Does Gloria Cain know about all these “other friends” he’s given money to? I doubt it.
It would be interesting to see those text messages and to also have a peek at how many females Cain has been “helping financially”.
Cain also said he has to consider what to do with the campaign contributions and went on to say he thinks someone is 'paying off" all these people (women, so far) to come forward.
His actual quote was “We don’t have the source yet, but I and many of my associates and many of my people are convinced that in every case it was financially motivated that somebody somewhere is paying them off to try and smear my character in order to slow me down.” He went on to say he needs to “reestablish” his character.
That’s a lot of money talk is a very short space and it’s starting to sound like some Palin-esque grade gobbledygook.
Also, if Cain himself doesn’t know, his advisers should have a clear idea of what happens to left-over campaign contributions. Heck, even I have some idea of those rules.

It kind of bothers me that this is the way Herm’s going down.
For harassment? Sure. For being an idiot that’s proud of not knowing foreign leaders and for thinking a 9-9-9 tax plan would pay for even a third of the budget, sure.
But a consensual extramarital affair? Some of my favorite presidents had them. Talking about cell phone records and stuff in the national media, that’s just low rent. It’s a dangerous precedent.
He was dropping in the polls before the affair allegations. I think his fifteen minutes as GOP frontrunner were up, and the affair stuff has just accelerated the inevitable decline somewhat.
