Now you said it, I could see Drew being a panelist :nodding:
Actually I could see the gang from Whose Line Is It Anyway all being panelists because the responses demand a lot of thinking on the spot, which, in turn, is a form of improv.

It won’t be as good because neither the cast nor audience can get ludes anymore.
…or good, strong acid, but krokodil is available these days.
I’m trying to remember who the “position 6 regulars” were:
Betty White
Patti Deutsch
Fannie Flagg
Joyce Bulifant
Marcia Wallace (died in 2013)
Mary Wickes (died in 1995)
I can think of one celebrity who could make, or break, the show as a panelist: Kathy Griffin.
It won’t be the same without the 70s porno jazz guitar wait music.
doont doont doo doo doo doo doo dooont dooont-- wicka wicka
Kathy Griffin would be good, as would Drew Carey. Others who might be good: Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon, Aziz Ansari, Will Arnett, Charlie Day, Anna Kendrick, Carrie Brownstein. And if Alec’s hosting it, I can’t see Tina Fey not sitting on the panel at least once.
They won’t be able to drink and smoke on the set like the originals.
Debralee Scott (died 2005, age 52 — apparently she was engaged to a NY fireman who died when the Towers fell, and never got over it)
A proper update of this show would have Amy Sedaris at Position 6, aka the “kook” seat. She combines attributes of the most fondly remembered personalities formerly stationed there.
She has the nutty housewife quality of Joyce Bulifant.
She’s Southern and crafty like Fannie Flagg.
She has the lateral thinking and bizarreness of Patti Deutsch.
One of the highlights of every season of RuPaul’s Drag Race is the “Snatch Game” episode. All the Queens dress up as different celebrities and answer shady questions in character.
LogoTV has given Ru his own version of the show, called “Gay for Play” - because it’s such a happy, bubbly, gameshow, of course! What were you thinking?
It’s a sort of Hollywood Squares/Match game thing, with Ru’s gold swimsuit wearing Pit Crew dancing in and out for no reason beyond the obvious ones. It’s on Monday nights, at 10, on Logo.
If you like Drag Race, you’ll probably like this. Honestly, I’m not much interested in Alec Baldwin’s version but I guess we’ll see.
Watching it off the DVR right now. Definitely captured the spirit of the Seventies version and less inane than the latest reboot of “To Tell the Truth”.
“What’s my name? Blank you, that’s my name!”
Most of the appeal, as it were, of the original, was that “you couldn’t say that stuff on TV.” It was like being a kid and practicing dirty words. Did you ever wonder how many euphemisms there were for “tits”? Watch Match Game and find out! That, and the implied double entendres in almost every game, and you had a perfect blend of family-friendly “dirty” television.
Nowadays, people can, and do, say everything on TV. There’s no market for ‘slightly risque’.
Typical MG 1976 question: “…she came home an found her husband BLANKing the cleaning woman.” Typical match answer: " giving a sponge bath". Slightly risque, implied sexual undercurrent, a good answer.
Expected 2016 answer: “He was fucking her, Alec, fucking her right there on the fucking floor.” Where’s the “fun” in that?
And that reboot of To tell the Truth is everything that is wrong with this country, and if you actually like it, you are what is wrong with this country!
I saw it in passing, and figured it was a SNL sketch, but it was a real show. Why does Baldwin need a big microphone nowadays? The clipons seem to work Ok.
Don’t forget original panelist Richard Dawson, pre-Family Feud days. He was SO good at matching head-to-head (How good was he?) that they eventually had to install the spinning wheel of panelists so he wouldn’t be chosen EVERY TIME.
It was OK. I could have done without Rosie O’Donnell on two shows ($100,00 Pyramid and Match Game) in a row.
A few of the old 70’s panelists occasionally gave unmatchable answers to screw with the contestants. Can’t think of an example but it was irritating to see. They were never picked for the final round question.
Dawson always tried to give the most obvious and matchable answers.
I need to check out the new show. When is it on?
There were a few of those last week. I felt bad for the contestant.
I believe it’s on Sundays. They show 3 game shows and this is the last one.
Sunday nights at 10 Eastern/Pacific, 9 Central/Mountain, after Celebrity Family Feud and $100,000 Pyramid. Note that each show is actually two half-hour shows (so it’s really two Match Game episodes, one at 10:00 and another at 10:30), although TV listings show them as an hour-long show.
The Match Game reboot is so awesome [that should be “awful”] it makes me want to [puke].
One player’s first question you could just tell would generate 7 different answers (hers and the six panelists’) for no matches, then her second question you could tell would get 7 identical answers. After that (about ten minutes) I switched it off. To me, it sucked big time.
