The mathematics of being Irish (wish me luck)

I have been playing Nokiagame for 3 weeks now. Tonite are the semifinals and the finals. I am in a state of twitchy confusion as we are 170 semi-finalists, and the top 50% of the semifinalists go into the finals. This means like, 85 people in the finals. Competing for 100 prizes?!

Wish me luck!! (if ya want to)

I have no idea what Nokiagame is, but ádh mór ort anyway

ruadh, many thanks for the wellwishing, wanted to let you know that it resulted in this baby and a mystery goodie-bag!

To the other hundred and twenty-something people who viewed this?

I won anyway, HA-ha

Congrats. (And I have no idea what that is, either.)

I assume Nokiagame is some sort of networked game and I’m guessing the competition was at a bar?

It’s a 3 week long internet based game which takes place in November. The game extends (not as much this year as previously) into other media such as newspapers, radio, tv, sms etc. This was the fourth year it ran (I think?) and there were 1.000.000 playing from I believe 24 different countries in Europe and the Middle East.

It is a ball each year because rabid little communities spring up each year around the game and help eachother out. The communities spend their time hacking the hell out of the mini-games, finding and publicising exploitable bugs, and working out strategies. When they aren’t doing those thing they are screaming about the place in a panic trying to second guess what will happen next, gossiping like a bunch of old ladies and spreading insane rumours all over the place. 2750 phones were given away, and come countries had runner-up prizes too.

I have never won anything proper before, this is very exciting
