To Papa Bear, in re “One Froggy Evening”:
I don’t follow you. What I wanted to know is, In what way was it funny that the frog would sing and dance ONLY when just the construction worker was present? Especially when the angry cop–who, like the others, couldn’t be convinced the frog * was * doing it. I sure don’t think the hapless man was convulsed with laughter when he was thrown into the bughouse. ‘Better you than me,’ eh?

Dougie-
There is no more futile or thankless a task than to try and explain a joke.

Perhaps you have never encountered something (cars come to mind) that just would not work although you had logically ruled out every possible reason for malfunction. Then you try to demonstrate the problem to someone and it’s working perfectly all of a sudden. As soon as they go away the problem is back. This sort of frustrating experience (one of Murphy’s Laws, I think) can only be responded to in one of two ways: 1)Losing one’s mind 2)Laughing your ass off.

I know my example above doesn’t really explain why I think “One Froggy Evening” is hilarious. I don’t know why slipping on a banana peel is funny either.

I’ll finish by stating that I’m not the only fan of this classic cartoon. “One Froggy Evening” has been on every list of best cartoons of all time I have ever seen compiled.

Gotta go with Big Iron, Mr John, Kat, Trumpy and Adam Yak. The Tick rules. Many of the associate super heroes on this show are pretty funny too.

Abstainer: a weak person who yields to the temptation of denying himself a pleasure.
