The Most Thrilling Joe Schmo Ever! (7-19-04)

It has come to the point where mere words cannot express my love for this show. If The Joe Schmo Show 2 were a woman, I would want to have her babies. I mean, I would send banner after banner over her home until she realized her love for me. Or I would give her a rat-eating frog to demonstrate the lengths by which I would twist and distort the natural order of regular amphibians to express my love.

But I digress. There was a lot going on in this show, but I would like to focus on one small aspect - the creepiness that was the Real Dolls. Particularly, how very unlike Austen the male doll looked like, and how much it actually looked like a young Christopher Walken.

Predictions: Cammy in the next few weeks makes mention of her twin sister Cassie (who is the name she was giving the Piper doll in initiating the 3-way).

This really was the most thrilling Joe Shmo ever! (Until the next one.)

I literally laugh out loud watching this show. It’s just so perfect. The editing is brilliant. They continually play the dramatic music and show close ups of the stalkers’ frog, Monticore the falcon, and now the two Real Dolls of Piper and Austin. Cracks me up every time.

They push the limit just as far as they can. Any more and the Shmo’s would catch on.

I love this show and laugh out loud during every episode, too.

Last night was really good. I loved the pearl necklace ceremony, when it was obvious that all three were going to get one, since “Eleanor” stormed off, and Ralph still said, “This is the final pearl necklace”. That was great.

Not to mention how nervous Cammy looked! One of the few faults of the show is that I think they play Cammy a little too stupid. But honestly, it doesn’t matter - Tim eats it all up.

Also, Tim’s growing on me. He does seem genuinely concerned for folks like Eleanor and Piper in their various dilemmas, and offered up honest advice, condolensces and empathy.

For a minute there, I thought Tim and Amanda might be headed toward a drunken hook-up while Austin and Piper were outside “fighting” at the restaurant. I can’t believe how much I like this show. My husband and I watch it religiously and laugh out loud a lot.

The falcon actually ate the frog? Too funny.

Wait…am I being whooshed?

And it’s yet been mentioned, and I can’t believe I didn’t in the OP, but how friggin’ hilarious was Bryce’s banner? “P - Did you see my first banner? - B” Oh my lord. I can’t possibly think of anything funnier to put on it than that.

That was a damn funny banner. Tim’s reaction was perfect. “How were you supposed to respond?!”

Early in the episode the producer (or whoever, one of the crew) was talking about how they moved Everett into Montecore’s trailer and “nature took its course”. This was just guy talking candidly to the camera, away from the cast. I assumed that the story about Montecore eating Everett was actually true. Am I wrong?

No, it wasn’t actually true - it’s just part of the story. I can’t wait to see how Bryce responds when he finds out. Because you know he’s going to find out!

Huh. Guess they got me too. But I still have a shot at dating Austin, right? Because he’s the bland, boring guy of my dreams.

That was truly, the most thrilling ever.

Cammy is the only weak point of the show. It was worth it to keep her if only for "
‘porked and beans,’ but she almost single-handedly blew it for Ingrid, and she keeps doing cringeworthy stuff that I’m surprised Amanda and Tim aren’t picking up on.

But regardless… this was a great episod. The dead frog. The Banner. Teh excercise thing. Eleanor… man… she was awesome. I loved Tim’s comment “that’s not acting, that was real.” And I loved her face behind his back while hugging him. Priceless!

It’s so funny how they seem to be going out of their way to make Tim and Amanda as uncomfortable as possible. First with the Parents, and now with Eleanor’s coupon book and Piper and Austen’s fight. Hysterical!
I’m still wondering where Matt is. We were promised a visit weeks ago.

Supposedly he showed up in episode 4. I missed that one, so I don’t know for sure. I suppose Brian could be lying . . . but that wouldn’t make him much of a buddy, would it?

I watched this episode twice (alone and again with my husband) and didn’t see the scene Brian described.

But wasn’t this the episode that was supposed to be 90 minutes long? I heard that they had to shorten it to an hour, when they moved the new episode time to Monday at 11:05. Apparently, the viewership dropped off after midnight, so they shortened the episode.

I’ll bet Matt’s scene was one that was cut. It sounds like it didn’t have anything to do with furthering the storylines, but it would have been nice to see him again. :frowning:

Aha! He was supposed to be in episode 4. The clip is on the official spiketv.com site. Not incredibly funny, but ballsy. The producers’ blog is pretty interesting too…
