I can’t be the only person who saw this. Richard Dreyfuss is an inventor, and Susan Sarandon is a single mom. The Star Trek kid plays her son, and Nancy Allen is Dreyfuss’ gold digging airhead girlfriend.

You’re impossible. Yes, it was Susan Sarandon. That was a very depressing movie, I could only watch about the first half hour of it.
