The Movie Game

Down, boy. Heel.

City of Angels

CRAP!!! NOT City of Angels!! Strike that! Delete it!

Mad City. Dear god, I need to NOT stare at my video cabinet while posting.

Arf!!!

Alan Alda

I just happen to have

Flirting with Disaster

out from the Library right now, although I’ve not watched it yet. We got about halfway through some Japanese movie about a couple of shy kids who meet each other (and probably fall in love, we’ve not got that far yet), while accidentally stealing money and running from the Yakuza.

But back to Alan Alda. I saw part of a weird film with him once where he’s either going insane or talking to the camera, or both, throughout the whole film. It’s about his failure to form decent relationships, or something like that. Anyone know the name of that one? (And yes, I know that’s a semi-constant theme in any film in which he’s featured)

BTW, I’m kind of disappointed that you didn’t fall into my Exotica trap from Mia Kirshner. I had a great play from that one.

Sorry, Shibb, but I’ve never even heard of it. If you recommend it, tho, I’ll watch it.

Flirting With Disaster was pretty good. Ben Stiller is kinda hit & miss for me.

I am pretty sure the movie you’re thinking of is actually Woody Allen, (and, yes Alan Alda is in a LOT of his movies) Play It Again, Sam.

The Alan Alda movie was Jake’s Women, I looked it up. It was just strange and was apparently made for TV, probably Showtime or HBO given the subject matter.

As for Exotica, if you like Atom Egoyian (spelling is way off) then go for it. Very Canadian film. Other films of his you may have seen: The Sweet Hereafter (very sad) and Calendar a bit odd but interesting and some lovely shots of Armenian churches.

For Ben Stiller, let’s go with

Reality Bites

which is the oldest film of his I can recall.

Guess it is time to bring this up… “Free Winona!” I have a feeling that is her asking price for a movie role these days…lol. jk.

Ok, I am sad to admit, even though I generally love Scorcese, I was not generally enthralled with his Merchant Ivoryesque effort,

The Age of Innocence

Mary Beth Hurt

Parents

I loved this movie.

Steve Martin

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Glenne Headley

That’s Headly, dammit! Headly! [/Harvey Corman]
I believe that the darling Ms Headly is in

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,

which I’ve not seen but commercials for the DVD have been in heavy rotation on the TV channels my kids watch. She also plays the Captain’s wife on Monk.

Ooooooooooh!! Her!! K.
Carol Kane.

Carol Kane is the sort of woman that I fall in love with even though I know that she’s secretly crazy.

Revenge of The Princess (Jedi)* Bride*

He’s only mostly dead

Mandy Patinkin

Yentl

Everybody got “Papa, Can You Hear Me?” in their heads now? You’re welcome! ;j

LOL. Yes I certainly do. Of course I must go with Barbra Streisand.
