The Movie Game

Tara Reid

As best as I can find, American Pie has not been used yet (the sequel was used in Round 1). So we’ll go with that since I don’t recall off the top of my head anything else that she’s been in besides America’s Sleaziest Celebs Uncensored.

That worthless no good riding-on-his-dad’s-coattails-as-a-poker-player Vince Van Patten was in it, too.

Well, I don’t know what else he was in (I looked him up once on IMDB, but nothing was memorable), but am curious about your assessment as a poker commentator. I personally like the commentary on World Poker Tour better than ESPN or Fox, as far as I’ve seen. Maybe it’s just Shauna Hyatt. :stuck_out_tongue:

The problem I have with it is, it’s not really representative of the game. It’s edited for the very best hands, and when people get knocked out. Of course, I know they have to do it that way to an extent, but it gives people the idea that every hand is an all in situation, and everyone plays just about every time. That’s not really the case. I’m happy to play about every 7th hand or so.
Dick Van Patten is actually a wonderful poker player. But Vince (at least, IMO) is riding reputation more than anything.
My favorite show is on Bravo late Sunday nights, and it’s the Superstars of Poker tournament. The guys commentating aren’t as colorful, but at least they know their stuff. Howard Lederer was calling the game last night.

Vince Van Patten ran screaming like a little girl all through Hell Night.

Wow, I can’t believe I missed that one. Maybe I can find it at the videostore? I’m sure he died some horrible death in that movie, although his fate was probably not as horrible as that which awaited his audience, so his histrionics are understandable.

A side question for you movie buffs:
Tomorrow is my bi-monthly guys night out for dinner and movies. The options that have been floated thus far were The Incredibles, National Treasure and Alexander the Mediocre. Alexander has been unanimously panned as far as I’ve seen; The Incredibles is shot down because somebody’s already seen it. National Treasure trailers made it look painfully stoopid. So, any suggestions? I figure worse comes to worse, either Alex or NT will do as a MST3000 sort of viewing, although it pains me deeply to pay my $8-9 for that. Any other films out there worth seeing? I doubt I’ll be able to sell SpongeBob to my 40-something guy friends.

Hmmm…is Kinsey out yet? I was planning on seeing it this weekend, it’s supposed to be excellent.

Sounds interesting to me, but a film that flirts with the protagonists homosexual leanings may not play well on the guy circuit. Or we could all learn a lot more about ourselves than we care to. But what the heck, I’ll see what I can do!

If it helps, here’s what’s playing tomorrow night at the theater we’re most likely to go to:
*
After the Sunset
Alexander
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Christmas With the Kranks
Finding Neverland
The Grudge
The Incredibles
National Treasure
The Polar Express
Ray
Seed of Chucky
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie *

Those are the main films showing in this area most places. I did find After the Sunset, Motorcycle Diaries, Saw and Sideways at a place that may be within striking distance, but I’d say it’s a long shot to get them to move locations once we’re settled in.

Believe it or not, I’ve heard National Treasure is actually not bad in an action-y kind of way, despite the laughable name and execrable [sub]Nightwatch[/sub] trailer.

Well, it should easily exceed my expectations, so I may push for that one.
