The Movie Linking Game

This is a game I invented to amuse myself in idle moments. The object is to connect one movie to another in a series of titles where the linking element is a significant word in the title. For example I can connect Casablanca to Johnny Mnemonic in a chain of six links: Casablanca - A Night in Casablanca - Night of the Living Dead - The Year of Living Dangerously - Johnny Dangerously - Johnny Mnemonic. The challenge would be posed thus: Casablanca to Johnny Mnemonic in 6. This example is pretty difficult so here is another: Apollo 13 to Mississippi Burning in 4: Apollo 13 - 13 Ghosts - Ghosts of Mississippi - Mississippi Burning. I’ve never tried to come up with a solution since I’ve only created chains. So this is really a test of difficulty. It may turn out to be simple or it may be nigh impossible. I will give you these rules for now and more later if the game works:

  1. The linking word cannot be an article or conjunction or preposition unless it is a major part of the title.

  2. The linking words can be forms of the same word such as swim=swims=swimming=swimmer.

See if anyone can do this one: Mission:Impossible to Attack of the Killer Klowns in 4.

You don’t have to solve a chain before posting your own. Just pose the problem and let me see how difficult it is to solve one.

ok…
mission impossible
mission to mars
mars attacks
attack of the killer klowns

try
Star Wars to The Lost Boys in 4

A Star is Lost (1973).

The temptation to cheat by using imdb.com is irresistable.
