The Movie Name Game.

Oh, it’s summertime and let’s have some fun ! We’ll play the Movie Name Game. Throw out a name, and see who can identify the movie, and what the name means. It can be a person, place or thing. The more obscure, the more fun !!!

I’ll throw out the first one. In order to claim having won a round, you have to both I.D. the movie, and what the name means/is.

Here goes:

ALBA VARDA

Cartooniverse

Sounds like the name of a boat but I can’t remember where it’s from.

It sounds like the name of the boat in Lethal Weapon, but that was more like Elba Varton.

Alba is latin for “white,” but I don’t know “varda”

That’s it! It was a clue for Riggs & Murtaugh; they thought it was a woman but it turned out to be a ship.

Actually, the name of the ship was Alba Varden and it was the South African ship featured in Lethal Weapon 2.

I don’t know if the original poster misspelled the name or whether s/he had a different name in mind.

Barry

My turn?

Marathon

I mis-spelled it. EXCELLENT work, all  Murtaugh remembers it because he caught a bit of the ship in a home video shot, and went scanning through the footage to find it.

Marathon? Hmmmmm…

Surely you don’t mean The Marathon Man! Too easy. I’d guess the battle, maybe, or the race. Not the first idea where to go, though.
