I know its a a poor adaptation to Stephen Kings stuff (most of it is), but I found it absolutely hilarious in every possible way. It was not a horror movie at all, not even dark comedy to me, just absolutely cheap and hilarious.
It is pretty fun for not being good. And I can only ever hear Fat Tony when Joe Mantegna says anything. It’s worth watching like once every 5 or 10 yrs.
I’ve remarked before about this Stephen King story, because it’s one of the cases where I feel certain that I saw the story’s roots. As I posted back in 2005:
I still haven’t seen the movie. One of these days I’ll have to.
When I first read the book, my girlfriend at the time – a very sweet and, in most ways, innocent thing, who nevertheless had a very dark streak for things horror – said that “it wasn’t just the one curse. He has three different curses in it, which makes it more interesting” It does indeed. The Ditko story only has the one curse.
I don’t think I’ve ever been scared by a horror movie. When watching horror movies I look for something unusual or different. Thinner isn’t a great movie but I believe it has an unusual premise, which I enjoyed.
