The Much Shorter *I Got My Elephant!!!* Thread

Oh great! A bunch of old, dog-eared style books. Maybe a dictionary or two. Possibly a thesaurus. Ooooo, I hope deep gets me!

(Or I get deep. Bwa-hahahaha!)

[sub]think, do you think you could finagle Lady Luck, just this one time? Or line me up for an outgoing Auxiliary Package-derm?[/sub]
-Rue.

thinksnow, with the Holidays right around the corner, should White Elephant III: The Awakening be pre-empted by Secret White Elephant Santa? (The White Elephant with a budget. Proposed budget: $9.00)

With The Awakening moved back to January or February. We can’t get rid of it completely, I’ve already started my new Box O’ Crap.
-Rue. (always thinking)

Glad you liked the stuff! I had a little note that I was going to put inside the package (it explained the honey being open) but I taped the box up before I realized I had forgotten to put it in.

The honey has been in the back of my fridge for a while (a month and a half maybe?). I opened it just before I sent it to make sure there wasn’t any mold on it. Didn’t stick my fingers in it or nuthin! It’s actually really good!

About that workout video - There is NOTHING that could have made it any more hideous! Denise Austin (in all her stomach turning spunkiness) line dance aerobics to Achy Breaky Heart and Elvira. I just thank you dearly for getting that thing outa my house!

Oh, and about that naked guy coffee mug? Don’t you think he has a weird looking ass?

I got my Elephant! From Pucette. On the box was a drawing, in pen, of an elephant’s head. How cute!

OK, here’s what I got:

*Oragami Jewlery
*A green makeup case/bag with some finger-nail polish and a little wooden boat model. And a little pink beaded bracelet.
*A complete list of Penguin Books classics.
*A blank Nine West book.
*A Mardis Gras cup with a MG schedule thru 2006. Mardi Gras lands on my birthday (Feb. 8) in 2005.
*Green drapes

Thanks Pucette! And thanks for the little note you wrote. I feel guilty about not writing Shayna a note (well, I did but I forgot to actually mail it). But she got an e-mail, so it’s all good.

Glad you liked the junk, bean_shadow!

I was just coming on here to post that I’d just received my white elephant from Ellen!

-CD of “The Beavis and Butt-head Experience” (I’ll check it out tonight - I should like at least some of these songs :))

-A Clapper. As in clap-on clap-off. Before I go nuts making plans to freak my cats out, does this thing actually work?

Thanks, Ellen!

I feel sort of awful. Intimidated by the 85-page “I Got My Elephant” thread, I cowered and never opened it, thus never publicly thanking Spoiler Virgin for her lovely package of elephant gifts!

I received a watch – a tremendous gift for your girl Ellen, because I seem to repel them for some strange reason. The bands always break or some other less-than-vital thing goes wrong with them, which nonetheless precludes me from wearing them. This SV model is big, bulky and sports the Snapple logo, so I’m out shillin’ for them now.

Also among the treats which traveled cross-country to reach me were:
[ul]
[li] An Official Presidential box of M&Ms, signed by Bill Clinton.[/li][li] One Tamagotchi, a “tiny pet from cyberspace who needs your love to survive and grow.” (Ages 8 and up.)[/li][li] Assorted buttons: “Uniquely maladjusted, but fun” … an alligator playing the guitar, singing “Love to eat them Preppies” ::sliding topsiders under the bed:: and an arrow squishing a crucifix (“Down with Christianity”?)[/li][li] A Snapple keyring sporting a rock-climber’s rope thingie (I’m sure there’s a name for these things.)[/li][/ul]
As we can see, our girl SpoilerVirgin has a Snapple thing goin’ on.

I particlularly love the M&Ms. I’ll have to pass them along. Hopefully they can be a gag gift for many years to come!

Thanks again, SpoilerVirgin!

I’m glad you like your cra…stuff, eirroc
Does the yellow fluffy ball giggle for you or did they break that, too? The plastic thingy that makes noise is out of a dog toy that my lab destroyed, but I liked the noise, so I kept it. The rubbery things are pencil cushions. And I’m honored to think the Mickey notebook will be going to college in Scotland! I’m sorry the bottle got broken, it was meant to be a pendant, as was the shell. Oh, and the stamps are 33 cent stamps and first class is now 34 cents and I’m too lazy to buy 1 cent stamps to use with them–that qualifies them as white elephants in my book! (And yay, children in Scotland love me!!!)

Pucette, the Clapper does work! I actually plugged it in and was going to use it, for the kitch value (it was a gift from my brother), but my dog’s barking set it off! I had lights a-flashin’ in the living room like a disco on Saturday night. It’s been collecting dust for lo these many years.

Please do enjoy!

It’s too flat. I think it should be a little more rounded. But the rest of him…perfect!

I’m off the couch!

Yesterday I arrived home from work to a large package on my front steps. Woohoo! My package o’ Pity Pachyderms from FairyChatMom arrived! Now that I’ve recovered from the shock of recieving so much cool stuff, it’s possible to type out the list of neato-keeno stuff she sent:

*A bigass Chicago Bulls clock made of lacquered plywood. It even works! It’s over my computer as I speak.

*A copy of the top-secret Dilbert management handbook! It’s funny as hell and has a place of honor on my bedside table.

*A gray cushion for a canoe rack. Uh. . .thanks.

*A Dexter’s Laboratory “Experimental Locker” magnet. Very neat. Now keeping my fridge from floating away.

*Some English Breakfast and Cinnamon teabags. The English Breakfast is still good, FCM-I had some this morning.

*A partly-used box of staples. Can’t have too many staples.

*A syringe-looking thing called a Flavorator which is allegedly used to inject broth or flavoring into meat. Ooooohhhhhhkaaaaaayyyyyyy. . .but I don’t think I’ll leave it lying around where the parents can see it.

*A keyring from “Insta Oi-Lube” in Florida. A quick-lube for skinheads? Neato!

*A toilet tank to bowl connection kit. Always handy and very fashionable too!

*And the coup de grace. . .a fabulous white and red striped apron with a Christmas stocking on it! Thanks! I’ll wear it with my pearls and heels when I vacuum the house before Ward and the Beaver come home.

All in all, neat stuff from a swell lady. Thanks again!

Zappo

You’re so welcome. I have absolutely no idea what that arrow button represents. I don’t even know how I got it. I have some vague feeling that it was from some HMO or women’s health group (the cross representing health, i.e. the Red Cross, and the circle with arrow representing women). Or maybe it’s something else entirely. Anyway, it seemed sufficiently White Elephantish (and useless) to be included.

Yeah, my Snapple thing is something between an addiction and a religion. I require at least SIX bottles per day to function. I’ve won so many “under the cap” prizes that I have started having them sent to other people’s addresses (because you can only have so many sent to yourself).

Oh, and I have learned that the Clinton M&M’s came to me by way of the White House locksmith’s doctor!

I’m glad this stuff means more to you than it did to me.

Hee Hee, yep it giggles! My niece just showed me how to use it after I read your post out loud to her. She has had a dig through the box and has claimed: the little rucksack keyring, into which she has placed “this real American lolly which she claims she wont eat” the blue velvet bag, some stones, and one of the postcards. My youngest laid claim to the rrrrrr toy cause it’s “cool”, the other postcard, and a rubber thing for his pencil (my niece had to explain that one to me too) man I’m behind the times. We are now fighting over the lollies which have really cool flavours.

You are most welcome. I’d be more than thanked if I could see a photo of you in the pearls and heels and apron. Come to think of it, that would make a stunning holiday card for you to share with friends and family!!

Bunny is taking a break from the boards, but she was most eager to let the board know how cool her White Elephant package was. So here is what she had to say.

I got my Elephant!

Thank you, Cartooniverse!!

I got notice from the post office yesterday that there was a box awaiting me at our local branch. I tossed and turned all night [sub]not[/sub], filled with the anticipation that it might just be my eagerly awaited Elephant!

I ran over on lunch today and discovered a square box, packed with pachyderm paraphernalia. Good stuff, too, along with a few……oddities. Plus, a nice card.

In a small manila envelope entitled "Really Good Stuff  ", I found:[ul]
[li] A CD by Russell Watson “The Voice”. Cool! How’d you know I like opera and vocalists?![/li][li] A pencil with eyeballs on it[/li][li] 4 small, peculiar stones[/li][li] A round, metal disk. Camera lens cover?[/li][li] An unopened batch of 3x3 Post-it Notes[sup]tm[/sup]. Definitely useful! [/ul][/li]
Another manila envelope entitled "For That Romantic Doper Evening  "[/list]
[li] 7 very aromatic incense sticks, that are smelling up my office as we speak.[/li][li] A pair of very large rubber gloves[/li][li] 2 Shout[sup]tm[/sup] Wipes towelettes[/li][li] A purse sized, unopened bottle of Astroglide[sup]tm[/sup] :D[/li][li] An opened tin of peppermint Altoids[/li][li] A packet of Alpine Sugar-free Spiced Cider Instant Drink Mix [/list][/li]
Sounds like a kinky night!

More goodies: [ul]
[li] A plastic bag with an ABC Sports hat and a t-shirt from The Hot Pit Barbecue: NYC. The back of the t-shirt says “So good, you’ll squeal!” Maybe the shirt should’ve been with the “Romantic Night” stuff? ;)[/li][li] A cool 2002 Hudson Valley Weather Calendar with pretty pictures[/li][li] 2 (count 'em!), 2 videos: The Outrageous World of Soupy Sales and The Untold West: Hot on the Trail. The back of this last one says: “Nowhere else will you discover the surprising truth about the sex, romance and passion that blazed like a prairie fire on the expanding American frontier” Wow![/li][li] A mulberry candle[/li][li] A little ceramic pumpkin with an orange, spicy-scented candle in it[/li][li] A little plastic snow globe from North Carolina with a bear and a deer in it. I guess if its from NC, that would be a “bahr”, wouldn’t it?[/li][li] The September 25th edition of that bastion of journalistic excellence, The Weekly World News. Did you know that Bill caught Hillary with a space alien!? Gadzooks![/li][li] And last, but most certainly not least, a beautiful, utterly delicious loaf of homemade banana bread. And let me tell you, IT’S GOOD! [/ul][/li]
What a great package!!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, the incense sticks are making me woozy and I……need…… to figure out a place ……to put them before I. fjaeiura’ejfaef.

:thunk:

Sounds suspiciously like a clock I sent someone.

Shhhhhhh! You said you wouldn’t tell about that. . .but I’ll be more than happy to send you some of the “special” pictures of me.

I gave you full credit as the original donor… Of course my penmanship is so bad, he might not have been able to read it.
For the record, tho, Grace gifted me with the clock and it was just too much elephantine goodness for me not to share!

oooooo, I’m getting “special” pictures of Zappo… <happy dance>

Who got the buttered popcorn flavored one? <insert yucky smiley here> I think they are really gross, but I couldn’t deprive someone in Scotland the chance to experience it!
