That reminds me of the time I found a funny Bazooka Joe comic. I was so excited, I went around and showed it to all my friends. Sadly I lost it, and now all I remember is that the punchline was “because he’s dead!”
I supplement the LA Times comic page with webcomics…it’s the only way to survive.
Prickly City Forever! Boondocks Rules!
Surprisingly, the last few weeks of Cathy have been pretty good. Maybe you have to be recently-married to think so, but still…
Well, at least you don’t have Curtis, which is almost as funny as a traffic jam.
(God, I hate that strip)
I couldn’t agree more. They only seem to have but a few plotlines that they have OVER and over again:
- Rap music-either he and his brother are at the record store or Curtis is playing the music too loud
- The dad hates his job
- Curtis goes to that barber who doesn’t know his name (“Hi Craig!” “Curtis”)
- Curtis doesn’t seem to realize that the stuck up girl hates him
- Curtis is teasing his little brother, who goes running to mama
And don’t forget #6- Curtis hassling his old man about smoking.
I’m a little disappointed that no one has mentioned Prince Valiant. That, along with Snuffy Smith, Gasoline Alley, et al were features of the La Crosse WI newspaper, and I have fond memories of sprawling out on my grandmother’s kitchen floor to read the Sunday comics that were not available at home.
Well, I was really complaining about the blandness of my local paper in general. Thankfully we have the web. Here’s what I read on a daily basis (mostly from The Washington Post):
