The Muppets present The Great Gatsby!

Apparently works from 1925 enter the public domain this year, including F. Scott Fitzgerald;s The Great Gatsby. A lot of people – Of knows why – want to see a Muppet version

If this gets made, they just need to make sure that Dr. Bunsen Honeydew portrays the eyes of TJ Eckleburg.

Spoiler for the end.

Stolen.

I nominate Gonzo for

George Wilson

Myrtle’s husband, the lifeless, exhausted owner of a run-down auto shop at the edge of the valley of ashes. George loves and idealizes Myrtle, and is devastated by her affair with Tom. George is consumed with grief when Myrtle is killed. George is comparable to Gatsby in that both are dreamers and both are ruined by their unrequited love for women who love Tom.

Of course, Gonzo builds stuff out of the auto scrap.

Family Guy already did a parody, we don’t need another one.

So did Leonardo Decaprio.

I haven’t seen it, was it that bad?

I liked it and I have read the book. Was it poorly received? I thought it hit the main points of the book very well. It’s not that long of a book and I thought they captured it quite well.

I kind of liked it myself. Very edgy shoots and editing made it a LOT less boring than the 1974 Robert Redford version.

They released it in 3D. I think they missed out on a real coup by not making the 3D glasses look like Dr. T.J.Eckleberg’s sign

I see Gonzo as Gatsby. He’s a show-off, wears a tux much better than Kermit, and he’s already referred to as The Great Gonzo. Plus, Camilla the Chicken is perfect for Daisy.
