I thought this game had perhaps the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard. I’ve got the midis of the tunes but I was wondering if there exists real instrument recordings of them, particularly the one called Smoky Tune. I’ve no clue if it was composed by someone working on the game or whether it’s an older tune. Googling finds me MP3s of the midis but as I said I’d love to hear the soundtrack played on real instruments.
The music for the game was produced by Alistair Brimble (see an interview with him). He’s written or arranged music for a lot of games, especially on the Amiga. Some of those in Colonization are certainly old folk tunes, though that one I’d guess to be original. Don’t know if anyone has recorded his original work.

The above post is wrong. I thought Colonization was originally an Amiga game, but it turns out that’s not right. Allister Brimble (the correct spelling) only did the arranging for the Amiga.
This page gives the music credits for the game; I still think that one was composed for it.

IIRC they used this song.
