The Myron Cope Memorial Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

I meant it sarcastically after we had a lot of debate last year over the subject. What happened there was legit.

I thought it was funny. after I clicked the link

OK. I’m still a bit touchy about how that game went down. I still want to know how a horse-collar tackle trumps a helmet-to-helmet hit that caused the fumble to begin with, for instance.

The officiating crew was down one man, that may explain some of the missed calls. I’m still touchy about the game too but mostly because the offense squandered the game. The two touchdown plays were nice but that seemed to be all they could muster all day. When things are going well, PGH dominates the Time of Possession, wse haven’t seen that type of clock management this season. It’s not the end of the world though, everyone knew this would be a tough stretch in the schedule. If they can go 2-2 through here they’ll still be in good position in the standings.

ETA: By the way, congratulations Airman Doors, USAF on getting to see them live. My wife is starting to get interested in the team, I almost have her talked into making the trip. Unfortunately it’s a 16 hour drive for us and the Loonie just plunged against the US dollar :frowning:

Actual, honest to god signal stealing – which this was not – is also legit.

OK, now we get to see if the Steelers can go 50-50 against the toughest division in football starting tonight. The Cowboys are dog food right now, so they shouldn’t even be a challenge, but the 'Skins? It remains to be seen.

It pains me to say it, but…go Redskins. Strictly for football pool purposes. And if they lose, then make it a low-scoring game (which I’m expecting anyway).

Oh, isn’t this just great.

One hell of a start to this game. Failed on-side kick? D saves their ass. Deflected pass turns into an interception? D saves their ass.

Did Max Starks duck on that deflection??

Christ… 6-0 after 4 minutes…

An inauspicious start guys…

Luckily, I’m going to bed soon. They always seem to do better when I’m not watching…

Under 100 yards passing in the half. By both QB’s. Combined.

Boy, this game is crap.

On the one hand, I want Portis to go nuts to further enhance my fantasy football team’s awesomeness. On the other hand, I want a Steelers win to ensure Obama wins the election.

Hey, touchdown Steelers! Roethlisberger off left guard.

Steelers? Obama?

I’m missing something.

Has anyone been counting the number of times they’ve shown that McCain commercial with the roiling sea? That was a bad commercial the first time I saw it. The 20th time it becomes farcical.

I guess I owe Bruce Arians an apology. Since Ben went out the offense has looked sharp. The play calls haven’t changed but the execution has. Roethlisberger’s shoulder might be affecting him more than we’ve been led to believe.

And how about the D?! The Ravens are getting the press but the Steelers’ have the best defense in the league right now. Hampton, Smith, and Keisel are playing like maniacs and freeing up the LBs to make plays; I love it.

GodDAMN the defense is unbelievable. What else is there to say? They held the 'Skins to 2 field goals, in great field position, no less, and then they simply shut their asses down for the rest of the game.

Boy, the offense came alive under Leftwich, didn’t they? I don’t know what Ben’s problem is this year, but Leftwich came to play.

Wow! Kudos to the D!. What a great job they did.

Ben, if you are hurt, wait until you are healthy to play. I’d rather see Leftwich (or Batch the year Ben had the Motorcycle accident) than you come in limping and playing poorly.

Of course, I helped too - I *did *go to bed after all…

That was really surprising. Leftwich’s problem has always been that massive wind-up in his throwing motion which means he takes forever to get rid of the ball. I thought he was going to be sacked at least three or four times playing behind that excuse for an offensive line. Instead, he saved the day.

I agree. I have to admit that I was saying we were really sunk when he came in. He certainly proved me wrong. He’s just been so erratic when he’s come into games earlier in the year that I expected the worst.

That D brings a tear to my eye. I love to see a run-crushing defense, but to stomp all over the passing game at the same time is awesome. And how about back to back weeks with big fourth and goal stops!
