The mystery of the trinity

Define “love” – is God’s Love based on actions and deeds, or is it merely a fleeting emotion?

That is your belief and until you can prove other wise I stick with my thinking.

But why does that love have to take the form of a three-way?

It’s not a 3 way, is it family, we are included, all of us, all the angels, all the arch angels, male and female.

And family, love from parent (angel) to child (human), with the children eventually developing into angels and guiding their own children, while still being guided and loved by their parents also advancing.

That is the growth of Love, and it comes from Loved children. That is why the children are so important to the equation.

It’s “archangel”, not “arch angel”.

Love is God ‘ultimate’, all power is in Love and it is a living guiding entity. It is also correcting and compensating all knowing entity.

God is not divisible, any and all Love is God - this is how we become one with God, we become children of Love.

Our emotions I opine is own only free will, what emotion we act in is our only real choice we have. So acting out of Love will produce certain deeds, other emotions will produce other deeds. For the deeds done out of Love God will watch over and guide and help and teach the child.

God is easy to understand … God is God

Jesus is easy to understand his words are all in red in most New testament bibles

Jesus said in a prayer to the Father in St John 17: 11 NCV

The only way we can be one is that you invite Jesus into your heart and the Holy Spirit enters in to make his home with you.

The third person of the trinity is the Holy Spirit and he is the hardest one to understand.

A lot of people have a hard time understanding who the Holy Spirit is, but it gets easier when you understand that is who he is when you are humble, not when you are haughty or scornful or judgmental or angry.

Michael was feeling snarky that day.

Oh you have no idea how ‘badass’ these archangels are they are not the ones to crowd around the throne singing holy holy holy for all eternity, they got $hit to do and they get it done.

It is only a belief that Angels exist and that is what faith is all about. One believes what they want to be true not what is. Why God would inspire some people to believe one thing and others another does not sound like an All Knowing all loving all powerful being to me. I would expect such a being to know more, care more than me. If the Being is supreme He would know ahead of time the creators he was said to create would turn out bad and still create more, keep it’s self so it could only be known by faith. doesn’t make sense. Even sending a son to suffer for a few hours seems unnecessary, and to kill a lot of innocent babies and perhaps mentally challenged people is opposite of a good loving all knowing Supreme being. The being described in the Bible sounds more like an egotistical, cruel being and surely not what we could consider a good human.

Yep.

Same can be said about Sauron in The Lord of the Rings, or Voldemort in the Harry Potter trilogy. Thankfully, all three are fiction.

True. But only one of these attracts flocks of people to big buildings once a week. We’d look funny on anyone worshiping two of these - why not all three?

Yeah, the other two only attract flocks of people to big buildings every couple years.

<bolding mine> - Of course - those are words ‘attributed’ to Jesus - we have no idea if they truly are ‘Jesus’ words. they were written down well after the fact and, of course, there is no recordings.

and of course, the rest of the quote above is circular reasoning - and serves no real purpose - clearly, not everyone understands “god” teh same way - so your analogy falls way short of things.

Circular again - and you blame those that don’t understand on themselves - vs the simple fact that if what you believe were true - it would be far easier to understand it.

To the quoted scripture - “being one as you and I are one” can be interpeted a number of ways - you are clearly going with the ‘we are all one big spirit being’ vs a more natural reading being “one in purpose” - not neccisiarly one in “being”.

Then you misunderstood everything I said

Yes God follows what you expect , that is your issue as I see it, you expect God to follow your rules and even your nonfactual beliefs that you hold as truths and don’t care to hear facts that counter you position of blind faith.

Though this is common Christian belief this does not equate to anything I have said here. It is not that Jesus gave up a weekend for the salvation of the world. (again the box you like to use as it comforts you even though it is totally inappropriate, it’s all you can accept.

Again I state outright this is your god not mine and I wouldn’t worship it either and do not, so please stop painting my God as the one you know and are running from. I have already stated that I don’t blame you from running from such a god of yours and I would too, but that in no way describes my God.

Um OK, great reply there, do you want a cookie?

I actually know neo-pagans/wiccans who have incorporated the name of Elbereth into their worship services.

Not quite as silly as worshiping Sauron…but not too far removed.

What kind of response would be appropriate when it comes to what springs from your imagination?

Actually, I was agreeing with you. But yes, I’d like a cookie anyway, please.

Even constraining this discourse to the Bible as a fictional narrative, just look at the score. Who destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah, in a conflagration so vast that merely looking at it would transform someone into a pillar of salt? Angels. Who slaughtered all the first born children of Egypt in a single night? Angels. (In fact, just one angel.) Who broke the seven seals, sounded the seven trumpets, and poured the seven bowls upon mankind, rendering the entire planet lifeless? Angels.

Countering that, what were the worst things Satan & his legion of demons ever did? Made a bunch of pigs jump off a cliff? Oooh, so scary.

Yeah…I’ll side with angels over demons, any time.
