Why does anyone need a name that takes up the maximum number of characters?
Why does the SDMB allow the maximum number of characters to be so large it interfers with the boxes in the thread?
Why do birds suddenly appear every time a moderator comes near?
I’m with you Enderw24. I get especially irked by long names with underscores instead of spaces, like This_Is_My_SDMB_Screen_Name, which can’t get word-wrapped due to the lack of spaces.
But it hasn’t become enough of an annoyance yet that we’ve been trying to crack down on it. You’ll know when we do by the sudden appearance in The BBQ Pit of the thread “Why does it bother anyone if my name is 30 characters? This is an infringement of my right to speech! And that poster over there has only one character less than me, so why don’t you tell her about this new oppressive rule?”
Ok, How come my location all of a sudden cut off in the middle. I swear it was working ok yesterday, today, I log on, I’m reading a thread and my location looks funny, cuz it stops in the middle of it.
But yours ** Arnold** wraps down to the second line like mine used to. What did I do to offend the SDMB and cause this to happen? Am I stuck with a non wraping location?
(If my location is complete when I post this I’m just gonna go do some work which is what I should be doing anyways.)
Locations are supposed to be limited to 25 characters. Maybe the limitation doesn’t apply to admins, because mine seems to be 27?
Actually scratch that, I just changed my user profile and it didn’t let me go past 25. I got rid of the commas in my location and now I’m at 25, but I was at 27 for a while there. The vagaries of the software.
Well, back to the drawing board for me keeping in mind the 25 character limit.
I can do this, really I can. It’s tough to be witty with character limitations. Trust me on this one!
Really, it’s just that with the switch they kept what you had in the original box, but if you change anything you have to go to 25.
You would think, andygirl, but then why did Jane D’oh’s location all of a sudden get truncated? Unless she tried to modify it after we set the maximum limit to 25 characters.
Thanks for chopping down all those immensely irritating 10-line dissertations of a Location that a lot of people had crammed into their box.
I get annoyed easily. But I like that you guys are paying attention to the little things.
