The Name of the Ancient Sumerian Eye Goddess

What was the name of the ancient Sumerian Eye Goddess mentioned in books? Also, was Gugulana Ereshkigal’s husband?

Erishkigal’s husband was Nergal. I don’t recognize the name Gugulana, but the Sumerian deities have a lot of alternate names and spellings.

Can’t tell the players without a program:

The “Eye Goddess” seems to be a general motif in mideastern religions, and is associated with several deities. It is sometimes associated with Inanna in the pantheon listed above.

Somebody else probably knows more.

If I understand you correctly, the goddess is Inanna. She was called Ishtar in Babylon, and is probably also Isis to the Egyptians. She is the sister of Ereshkigal.

I’ve never heard of Gugulana.

Gugulana or Gugalana was, I think, the Bull of Heaven
that Gilgamesh and Enkidu killed. When Ishtar goes down to the underworld she wants to take over but she lies to Neti the gatekeeper and says she is there to either attend her sister Ereshkigal’s husband Gugalana’s fueneral or see his memorial? That’s the way I think it might go but am not sure.

I miss Inanna.

Inanna wants me. (But I can’t go back there.)
