The name Sluggo

What is the origin of the nickname Sluggo?

The only reference I have ever heard of the name Sluggo, was in the old 1970’s Saturday Night Live short, “The Mr. Bill Show”
In case you are not familiar with it, Mr Bill was a clay character, and Sluggo was his evil arch-enemy.

Videotapes are available for rent at your local video store.

Sluggo is also the name of “A unique blend of iron phosphate with bait additives compressed into easy-to-use pellets.” Apparantly, is is used to control slugs.

Sluggo was also the name of a character in Ernie Bushmiller’s comic strip “Nancy,” now drawn by Guy Guilchrist.

As I recall, this Sluggo was a friend of Nancy’s and was not at all pugnacious or mean.

With a name like Slug or Sluggo, the person might wind up being…I dunno, like, an illustrator or something.

Real scary.
