This is driving me crazy. (Okay, I know, why should you care? But please help anyway.)
I keep almost remembering a story about a poet (English, I think) who had some place (or person?) he wanted to write a poem about but had to give it up because the proper name wouldn’t fit into the verse meter. There’s a letter he wrote to another poet where he mentions it, or something.
Dammit, who was that poet, and what was he planning to write about? I keep thinking Swinburne, but then I think maybe I mean Shelley, and for all I really know it could be Gerard Manley Hopkins. But you know what I mean! You’ll tell me, won’t you? Thank you thank you thankyouthankyou!
(Or did this “incident” actually only occur in a limerick about a poet named Tweeter, or something like that? I know it’s something, I just don’t know what.)
