Besides that, I find it absolutely amazing that people actually believe in this rapture hooey. It is absolutely ridiculous.
But what’s also ridiculous is the mother-goddess religion/school system thing that is put forth in that strip. I know many, many people who want to legislate religion out of school, not into it. It just happens to be that christianity is the majority, so christians think they’re being targeted. I don’t want prayer in schools, to any god or in any way. I don’t want “under god” in the pledge of allegiance any more than I want “under goddess” or “under allah”. I find the entire idea totally preposterous. In fact, that entire comic strip was totally preposterous. I can’t help but think that anyone who actually belives this stuff is mentally retarded.

The return of Jesus was, according to the NT authors, supposed to happen in the lifetime of the Apostles. Needless to say, it didn’t happen. For the last 2,000 years, kooks and crackpots have been predicting the imminent end of the world and the Second Coming. Still didn’t happen.
It’s not going to happen. Ever. You are not going to cheat death by getting snatched up to heaven. There may or may not be an afterlife, but you have to die to experience it, like everyone else.
And “everyone you know” is not a statistcally valid sample to judge the prevalence of your brand of eschatology.
