tremorviolet: Anyway, here’s the palette for Fall 2005.
Featuring colors such as “Rattan”, “Gloxinia”, “Glazed Ginger”, and — my favorite — “Atmosphere”. Or, as they are known to normal people, “Tan”, “Purple”, “Rust”, and “Grey”.
I wouldn’t mind the idiotic fashionable colors so much if they didn’t slap such idiotic names on them.
White is the summer black. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, women may wear white shoes and men may wear white trousers. Typically you don’t wear all-white, but a brightly-colored summer dress (red, pale blue, yellow, and pale green are great summer colors that never really go “out”) with white shoes and pearls is as timeless for summer as the Little Black Cocktail Dress is for winter. A solid blouse in summer colors over flowing white pants is pretty simple. Flip through your old J. Crew and L.L. Bean catalogs – this look has been “in” for decades.
The LBCD always looks great, but in the summer, I think it says “I take fashion way too seriously, and I don’t own any of this summer’s fasions,” or “I’m going somewhere very trendy.”
