is pink a color that is still in vogue?

I have a cool black and pink tie recently purchased at a garage sale. should i wear it, or would i be risking serious public censure by the fashion police?

You’d probably get in more trouble with the pattern, width, or material than the color – we need more info before we can adjudicate this.

I forget. Is pink the new orange, or the new black? Isn’t chartreuse the new pink? And if pink is the new black, then isn’t the tie, technically, not striped at all?

Yes. I’m wearing a pink, cashmere sweater with a vintage black and white herringbone wool maxi-skirt today.

Since you’re in Oklahoma City, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Seriously, people have to realize that colors are contextual. Someone on the street behind me recently painted his house a shocking bubble-gum pink. There are several possibilities:

  1. This is actually the color he wants for his house.
  2. He’s color-blind. Or just blind.
  3. He had a big fight with one (or all) of his neighbors.
  4. He went to Home Depot, looked at all the hundreds of little paint samples, and decided that this color looks reeeel purrrty on a tiny color swatch, without thinking what it’d look like on an entire house.

I’m wearing a light-red top, and I recently bought a nice dusty-pink turtleneck sweater. In fact, the store had a whole rack of sweaters, all in varying shades of pink.

I think pink is the new black, but I’m so behind on my fashion sense that I’m still wearing cropped sweatshirts with capri pants and large, geometric earrings.

The pink and balck combo has been really hot for a couple of seasons. I think it’s cooling down tho’. :frowning: I adore pink shoes and have noticed a marked decrease in the styles available in pink. You’ll be fine wearing it this season but may want to reconsider by spring. (Then again, if you really like it, wear it. I’m not changing my hot pink nail polish 'til the pry it off my cold, dead fingers. Or I get bored with it. Either one.)

Pink with black can be tough to pull off. I say pink and grey are just dandy, though. Just about everyone can wear that color combination. My skirt, while technically black and white, looks grey (well, charcoal, really) from afar.

Yeah, that color combo does have a very retro, 80’s quality to it, doesn’t it?

I tend to wear a lot of black and dark grey clothing with pink shoes and my hot pink birkin as an accent. (today is a grey plaid pencil skirt with a black shirt/v-neck sweater and my favorite hot pink stilettos)

Sigh. I want to talk about clothing and shoes. Maybe I’ll go open a thread in MPSIMS…

That and it makes me think of Good N Plenty–which is, like, the WORST CANDY EVER!

Sweet.

Do it. alice_in_wonderland and I will be there like a Vera Wang gown on a NYC bride.

What. Ever. That was like, SO September.

 Loser.
