I’m beginning to think that “Equipoise” is a member of Jeremy Renner’s family or is, in fact, Tony Gilroy.
I’m one of the few people I know that saw Hurt Locker and tuned-out early. But I loved him in The Town. Very ‘street’ and not too pretty. I think that regardless of his role, he’ll be great and all told, it should make for an exciting film.
The chase scene in Africa made the movie for me (particularly the fact that Bond is kind of outgunned by his target’s athletic prowesses).
Renner isnt that much younger than Damon, it’s kind of weird of pseudo-rebooting with an actor of the same age (I mean for an action franchise where the lead has to be in good shape). He was good in The Hurt Locker and The Town but I just can’t see him as a credible superspy.
I guess I’m going to have to buck the trend … I don’t like Renner at all. There’s something about him that comes across all cocky in a kind of slimy way, like he can’t be trusted. I suppose he’s a good actor, I just don’t like his basic demeanor or something.
I had fun watching the earlier Borne installments, based on my enjoyment of seeing violence and acts of daring-do executed in pretty European cities, but Jason Borne was kind of a boring character and Damon (who I usually like) was pretty forgettable in the role. So a switch might make for a better movie.
(I just saw “Hannah” last night, which is basically a Borne movie with a more interesting leading character pasted in, and really liked it. So the formula can work, anyways)
When I watched The Bourne Ultimatum, my reaction was the Dr. Hirsch should have been made Secretary of Education. Learn to speak a dozen foreign languages? Hell yes! You can dunk my head in tank of water. I would have probably done it for the ability to instantly figure out street maps and train schedules.
Imagine how dizzy the audiences would get having to deal with the shakycam action and Shia’s constant dialog of “No, no, no, no, no, no, no!”
And count me in the group of Renner fans. I loved him in the Unusuals and I’m looking forward to seeing him in the Avengers. I still haven’t seen the Hurt Locker, though. I’ll have to Netflix that up.
I’m glad to hear that Renner isn’t playing Jason Bourne. I think it would be a very bad sign if he passed on reprising the role that made him a superstar. I would expect the only reasons he would pass would be if the script really sucked or he hated the director.
No, in a Bourne movie you don’t have to use the staircase. You can just ride a corpse down 50’ of freefall and roll off when you get to the bottom.
(Sorry, I loved the relative realism of the Bourne movies, except that I found that scene jarring. Or in this case, not as jarring as it should have been.)
