Didn’t Munch make sergeant about halfway through his L&O run? And it wasn’t so much that it took Olivia a long time to qualify for it but that until this season she refused to take the exam.
And Cragen has been a captain in the NYPD for 25 years, since at least 1990 which means he made captain by age 40.
I can understand that, but his exit should have been something more befitting the character. He should have been hauled up on charges of beating an innocent insurance salesman, or 47 simultaneous aneurysms, something like that.
I like it better without Stabler. Through all the years he worked there he never got more stable. He was a loose cannon. I agree that his departure could have been more dramatic as befitted his dramatic self.
I liked the ensemble at the beginning of this new season. WITH Cragen and with an unpromoted Olivia.
Now, not so much.
That thing about the ricocheting bullets and a suspect who never was armed?? Baloney plot.
Like ThelmaLou, I tend to hang on to series long past their prime. I was annoyed at the eternal Red John thread in the Mentalist, and I’m not sure the new setup is convincing. The show should have ended with Red John’s death.
Am I the only one who regretted having stuck around for the last season of House? I hated it.
I’ll miss Munch, but the series could confuse without him and maintain quality if they would drop the drama. Stabler was great, but his character ran its course.
I don’t like Amaro one bit, but that could easily be remedied (partially) with more police work and less personal stuff.
I don’t think K saw any of the last season of House. Although I loved the medical mysteries, I stopped watching when personal drama took up more time than medicine. It’s not bad to work in a little, as we need to develop a relationship with the characters, but IMHO it shouldn’t take up more than 10-15% of the program. I’ll give you 5 or 6 minutes of personal drama a week, but no more.
I did bail on House. God, what an asshole. And mean! I did love looking at the body/wardrobe of The World’s Sexiest Hospital Administrator. But her hair was always so awful.
Concur on The Mentalist. And I’m still watching it, even though I swore I was through. Now he has two women coddling him and walking around saying, “Where’s Jane?” I am a sick puppy.
OK, I admit it, I watch this trainwreck. Yes there is too much personal drama and that is why I liked the Original Law and Order. Very little Soap Opera in that show.
Fin is my favorite now that Munch is gone. I like Rollins too. I never like Cragen because I have flashbacks to the LA LAW character he played (Dave Meyer, Roxanne’s husband). What a creepy guy that guy was but not SVU Creepy.
The trial was definitely a low point among many lowpoint for SVU. Driving Liv to drink, I guess it is a rule that SVU Leaders must have a history of hitting the bottle.
Rollins is going to have her EMMY nomination episode soon when she gets caught gambling.
To many re-tread stories as this one was done at least once before. I don’t like when they throw about 5 twists into an episode. There is not enough time to write it seamlessly and so they force it and if you are not paying 100% attention…you miss it.
I thank you all for crawling out from under rocks to admit that you watch this. Thank you. I don’t feel so alone in my condition.
They’re showing the original L&O on the WE network. I never watched any of these shows when they first came out. It’s interesting to watch the ones from the early 90’s (when Chris Noth was a pup)-- no cell phones, limited computer functions, limited or no DNA analysis. I remember keeping quarters (or before that, dimes) in my purse for the pay phone.
