Kind of surprised I got a repeat on there, iTunes reports ~400 artists.

Short Skirt, Long Jacket by Cake
Ain’t No Other Man by Christina Aguilera
Where Does the Good Go by Tegan and Sara
Ballroom Blitz by Sweet
She’s Got A Way by Billy Joel
Nothing Better by The Postal Service
King of Anything by Sara Bareilles
American Girl by Tom Petty
Hey Leonardo by Blessid Union of Souls
Stupid Girl by Garbage

For the hell of it, I scrolled through the next ~50 or so songs, and maybe 75% of them were all by the same 10-15 artists. I too have hundreds of artists on my iPod, so I’m curious as to the algorithm it uses when it shuffles. I’ve noticed in the past that it seems to favor songs recently added, but that doesn’t explain this pattern.

Florence and the Machine: Dog Days Are Over
Eddie Vedder: Setting Forth
Abba: Mama Mia
Chemical Brothers: Setting Sun
Rush: Limelight
Imogen Heap: Hide and Seek
ELO: All Over The World
Lee Cabrera: Move A Little Closer
Rolling Stones: Paint It Black
The Seatbelts: Call Me, Call Me

Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon
Girls on the Dance Floor - LMFAO
Sacrifice - Lindsay Ell
Days Go By - Keith Urban
Annie Christian - Prince
Whatever You Need - Damhnait Doyle
In Between Days - The Cure
10,000 Times - Blu Cantrell
More Than You Needed - Colin James
Stuck on You - Lionel Ritchie

What I think my iTunes does when shuffling is pick two or three artists and keep hitting on them. It seems like the same artists will come up again and again, then next time it will be a different couple.

John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John - ‘You’re The One That I Want’
Madonna - ‘Bedtime Story’
Cher - ‘All Because Of You’
Girls Aloud - ‘Theme To St. Trinian’s’
Meat Loaf - ‘I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)’
Missy Elliott - ‘Ching-A-Ling’
Madonna ft. Lil’ Wayne - ‘Revolver’
Run-D.M.C. - ‘It’s Tricky’
Johnny Cash - ‘In My Life’

Edit: that was only nine

Eurythmics - ‘Brand New Day’
