I agree with **Boogly **- too many people and too short a time for good discussion. And too often, the comedians on the panel seem to be more interested in doing a “bit” than making a real contribution to the conversation.
I’d shorten or eliminate the opening monologue and put that time to the group. And I like Keeping It 100, as long as the questions aren’t too convoluted or contrived.
I’m also glad he’s stopped the nervous lip-licking of the first episode.
Pretty much agree that on most nights it trends downwards, with a reasonably good monologue, mediocre panel, bad keeping it 100, and awful Larry keeping it 100. is that the best Twitter question they can come up with?
I thought the double time black fatherhood panel was one of their best myself. If they dumped the Keeping it 100 segments and made the panel longer it would be an improvement.
I sense a bit of desperation in an attempt to get something to go viral, the way Truthiness did.
I like Wilmore, but he is no Colbert - who is brilliant and fearless.
True. But the panel isn’t that really funny. It’s more like a bad weekend morning panel. I think he’s trying to hit some serious subjects, but hasn’t found a hook to make it work with late night Comedy Central.
As much as I wanted to like it, I’ve found that I don’t bother pulling it up on the DVR regularly. Since the blurb for each episode is the same, I can’t tell if I’ve watched them, so as they accumulate I just delete them.
Ok. I’ve given up for a bit. The show isn’t getting any better yet. I recognize it’s still new, and I’ll check it out every once in a while, but I don’t see myself sitting through episodes at night.
