The Ninth Gate

In the Ninth Gate the plot centers around a book that was supposedly written partially by a man and partially by Lucifer. I was wondering if anything from the movie had any fact. Possibly that there was believed to have been a book like that in the past or that the human writer was an actual person.

I believe it’s pure fiction. The movie is based on a novel by Arturo Perez-Reverte called The Club Dumas. I haven’t read it, but one thing I was wondering about that movie, at various scenes a little something would drop – my friend who saw it with me thought it was a feather. The girl on the motorcycle dropped one, and when Corso was entering the rich Satanist woman’s home the final time, a yellow one dropped in front of the door. What was the significance of that?

I have read The Club Dumas and let me tell you, reading the book won’t give you any insight into the movie. The movie is very different from the book, in fact in the movie there are a group of devil worshippers, where in the book there is a club that really enjoys The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. I personally think the name of the movie should have been The Club Dumbass for making such a stupid movie out of a good book.
