I was kinda surprised to see a stripper pinching her nip on the cover on this week’s Voice.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no prude - but this is a free weekly paper on prominent display pretty much everywhere in town where anyone, including kids, could see it.
I’m just kinda surprised they got away with it, I guess.
Well, I’m not sure I’m allowed to post a link on account of the nipple tweaking and all, but the Village Voice is not a hard website to find.
OK, now my more serious comment…not having seen it.
I really have little problem with it. My own thought is that a culture of sexual repression probably encourages STD’s and unwanted pregnancies. Naked people are really a pretty natural thing - why bother hiding it?
NB: this is not an argument for exposing little kids to h/c porn, but nudity hardly that.
Censorship harms more than it helps.
I absolutely agree with you, UnwrittenNocturne.
Oz is a lot more liberal with such things, i.e. nudity on network TV and topless ladies on public beaches, etc. than the US.
That’s why I’m surprised seeing a naked boobie on the cover of a national newspaper here!
Maybe it is a good sign for the future. Oddly enough (I am an immigrant here from New Zealand) I find Australia much more restrictive (Tasmania anyway) in terms of censorship than what I am used too
